In a JBNBlog nod to the 2012 Western Fair’s Coca Cola stage lineup announced Monday, here is a blast from the past. The following stars played the 1972 fair. One name has been dropped & you get to figure out who it is. For the usual #JBNBlog #ldnont history mystery prizes.
Here are some clues: Slovenian music. Goes from A to B. Guested on Pig & Whistle in 1975 with Walter Ostanek (!) and The Peaches (!!). Harmonica. Polka. Would have been 39 or 40 when the fair gig came along.
So who am I?
For similar fun, check out the names of the other acts playing the 1972 fair. Are The Stampeders still rawkin? If so, too bad they can’t join Trooper or April Wine this fall . . . that would be truly classic CanCon, eh?
Here is the list:
Bobby Vinton / North Door
Hubert Castle Circus
Dave Merrifield
Tommy Hunter
Shirley Eikhard
The Stampeders

Frankie Yankovic
Very much in the right ballpark, but the answer is someone not as well known (at least to me). You probably know this already … what was Frankie Yankovic’s backup band called?
The Yanks, I believe, was the backup band. Would that person be Myron Floren?
It wasn’t Myron . . . the harmonica ace with the polka face is/was Andre Blumauer, someone JBNBLog never heard or even heard of. My loss. Andre had the grandstand dancing no doubt all the way back in 1972.
