Game design major and super nerd Ben Gray has taken a note-sharing app for Nintendo 3DS and turned it into an old-school Dungeons & Dragons game.
Swapnote, an app released free last month that lets users to share notes, sound clips and 3D images, got Gray’s creative juices flowing.
Being a game design major, it just kind of clicked in my head that, you know, this could be really useful in game design somehow. I don’t know how, but I just started coming up with ideas, and something clicked.
It came to him when he found the graph-paper feature.
I saw the graph paper and my nerd sense went off and I immediately knew I had to make a Dungeons & Dragons game.
It’s called Swapnote RPG and you can learn more about it in the above video. All you need to play is a 3DS, some geeky pals and this here graph template.
