‘Halo: Nightfall’ first look

- July 24th, 2014

Gaming and sci-fi fans at San Diego Comic-Con received a surprising treat opening day.

On Thursday, 343 Industries and Scott Free Productions unveiled the first trailer for Ridley Scott’s digital series Halo: Nightfall.

Based on the first person shooter title from 343 Industries, Nightfall follows legendary marksman Jameson Locke (Mike Colter) and takes place between Halo 4 and the unreleased Halo 5: Guardian.

According to Xbox, Locke and his team are on a mission when they are ambushed by a terrorist organization on the planet of Sedra.

Captured, Locke and his team must fight their way back to freedom, but after being drawn to a “sacred artifact,” must endeavor through a hell they weren’t aware existed.

Although not much else is known about Locke’s character, Xbox have confirmed he will have a major role in the upcoming Halo title, which is due to release sometime in 2015.

From the looks of the trailer, fans of the Halo franchise may be getting a live action series that incorporates all of the mythology and alien life presence they could have hoped for.

At the same time, it does feel like an expensive marketing ploy to amp up anticipation for the fifth title. We’ll see if it’s any good relatively soon, though, as the series is scheduled to premiere on Xbox One platforms sometime in November.

I mean, it’s got Ridley Scott, so there’s some hope for it yet.
