September declared Fighting Game month

- August 30th, 2012

It seems going back to school and launching fighting games go hand-in-hand in 2012.

Two of the biggest fighting game series will be launching their latest titles. Namco places Tekken Tag Tournament 2 in customer hands as of Sept. 11, and Tecmo Koei’s Team Ninja brings Dead or Alive 5 to all platforms Sept. 25.

Both titles are promising big things when it comes to extras. Namco Bandai teamed up with rapper Snoop Dogg for the game’s soundtrack, and Tecmo Koei is promising more interaction in its levels as well as extra costumes for its characters.

DoA will also feature the first Canadian-based character, Rig, since Wolf Hawkfield of Sega’s Virtua Fighter series. Which reminds me, VF’s Sarah Bryant and Akira Yuki will be playable characters in the new game.

Not to avoid being left out of the action, Capcom is releasing a 25th anniversary Street Fighter collection Sept. 18 and Marvel vs. Capcom Origins later in the month. Knowing Capcom, it may be best to wait for an ‘Ultimate’ or ‘Champions’ edition to be released with more extras before jumping to get these two.
