Do you use Twitter to tweet to the world what you’re doing? Do you use LinkedIn to build up your network of business contacts? If you do you’ll be happy to know that Linked has recently partnered with Twitter and added functionality to allow you to tweet your LinkedIn status to your Twitter followers or automatically post your any tweets as your LinkedIn status. Or if you choose, you can do both.
Easy to Set Up
Just sign in to your Linked profile. Under account settings you’ll see an option to add a Twitter account. Alternately you can visit the applications menu and select it from there. You will need to allow LinkedIn to access your Twitter account and verify your account name and your password.
When you join your accounts you have the option of displaying your Twitter account on your LinkedIn profile or keeping it private.
You can have Linked display all your tweets in your profile, or you can further filter your tweets – maybe you want to keep personal tweets separate from your business associates – maybe they are not interested what you had for breakfast or that you went out to walk the dog. If you want share only selected tweets, LinkedIn looks for hashtags #li an #in – so you will need to remember to use those tags in your tweets.
Linkedin also filters out @replies – so if you are replying to someone else tweet ie: starting your tweet with @xxx it will get filtered out.
Just Check the Box
To send out a tweet from within LinkedIn, you simply click the check box next to the Twitter icon when you post a network update.
Biz Stone, Co-founder of Twitter calls the partnership of Twitter and LinkedIn “like Peanut Butter and Chocolate”.
I think this new feature is awesome. I find it handy especially when I publish a new article or blog post – so I can now avoid having to do it twice.
To find out how to set this up, visits LinkedIn’s help centre or check out the YouTube video of Biz Stone speaking with Reid Hoffman co-founder of LinkedIn.

Nice post. I like the idea of the hash tags determining what gets posted back to LinkedIn. Keep up the great work.
