Friday13thAPP

In each calendar year one to three Fridays actually fall on the 13th. In fact this year, in 2012, there are 3, with today being the last one for the year. Do you need to know when the next Friday the 13th is? Do you need to make special plans? You need to ensure your insurance is paid up? Well, I’m sure you’re not surprised that for Friday the 13th, there is an app for that!

No it’s not a new app, it has been out for a couple years but I just recently discovered it and it’s aptly named Friday the 13th and created by Pocketkai. It’s a free app that will calculate all Friday the 13ths for the next 5 decades. If you need them posted in your calendar, an iCal function allows you to send them to your Mac or PC.

I have to admit that it isn’t particularly exciting, but it is functional if you need to diarize it or if you’re just a little superstitious.

Superstitions

Speaking of such a thing,  Superstitions, by fiddlemeragged is a free nifty little app that offers a plethora of common and supposedly not so common superstitions, folk sayings and old wives tales if you just want to make sure! Have fun with your friends and family over a cold one. You may learn something you never knew or thought you knew as gospel, but is not!

If you prefer to stay with flicks, you can rent or buy the original Friday the 13th (1980), the Uncut Version, or any of the 12 sequels. Who can forget that legendary hockey mask?

If you still can’t get enough Jason, there is the 2009 Version, the chilling re-imagining of the original classic as well as an Extended Killer Cut. Who comes up with these names, anyway?

To round off your day of entertainment horror or horror entertainment depending on your perspective, check out the documentary: His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th which includes a plethora of behind the scenes stuff and over 80 interviews with people involved in the films as well as a star-studded cast of fans.

Good thing it’s a Friday, since it’ll likely take you a good part of the weekend to get through just some of these Friday the 13th digital delights.

Happy Friday the 13th.  Watch yourself, I’m sure someone will be!
