What’s So Great About the new iPad?

- March 12th, 2012

Every time Apple announces a new iPad the tablet landscape changes forever. This year is no different. The new iPad’s “Retina Display” is stunning to look at, but the other improvements are impressive too.

The
new iPad looks like the old iPad 2, but it’s 6 mm thicker (9.4 mm thick) than the iPad 2 (8.8 mm thick), and 51 grams heavier (652 grams) than the iPad 2 (601 grams).

The technology inside the new iPad is where the differences show up.

Display

The new iPad has the same “Retina Display” used in the iPhone 4S, giving it a whopping resolution of 2048 X 1536 pixels. That’s 4 times as many pixels as the iPad 2 and a million times more than HDTVs. The display also has 44% more colour saturation, giving you an amazing life-like experience.

Processor

The A5X processor is a dual core processor, giving high-performance as well as low-power consumption – Apple has impressively retained the 10 hour battery life. The A5X chip comes with built in quad core graphics that are needed to power the new display.

Camera

The rear facing camera on the new iPad  is 5 megapixels and is able to shoot 1080P high definition video as well. The tablet also sports an auto-focus lens, as well as face detection, making subjects sharper.

Networks

The new iPad is “world ready”, able to work on global networks including 3G, HSPA+, DC-HSPA, 4G LTE.

The
new iPad  is available for pre-order from www.apple.ca and will be available at Apple retail stores on March 16th. The Wi-Fi models will cost $519 for the 16GB model, $619 for the 32GB model, and $719 for the 64GB model. The Wi-Fi + 4G model will set you back $649 for 16GB, $749 for 32GB, and $849 for 64GB.

Better hurry! The wait for new iPad is already 1-2 weeks on the website.
