Netflix now on Wii U; Win a Netflix subscription

- November 24th, 2012

 Netflix on Wii U[3]

If you subscribe to Netflix, you can watch movies more or less from virtually any computer and most gaming consoles, including Nintendo’s latest gaming machine, the Wii U. What’s unique, is Netflix, running on this new console, can take advantage of the machines two-screen integration enabling a totally new browsing and viewing experience in full HD.

If you’re simply poking around trying to decide what to watch, detailed information can be made available simultaneously on both the GamePad and your TV so everyone can see. During playback the TV can have the show all to itself, as a title information and all your play controls i.e. play/pause/stop, episode selection and play scrubber are shown on the GamePad. This makes a whole lot of sense.

In addition you can watch your selection directly on the GamePad itself, playing the sound through its speakers or headphone jack. It’s quite easy to switch back to watching it on your TV.

You can also use the new full keyboard on the gamepad for easy text entry of Netflix search. And all the results show up on the TV.

What else does the new Wii U do? Have you reviewed it fully or done a comparison to the PS3?

  27. Greg Gazin | November 26, 2012 at 11:24 pm

Albert, I have not had the luxury to get my hands on one. I’d check in with Steve Tilley who did a live chat last week and you can view the transcript.
