The phone I currently own is not even a cellphone. It’s an old cordless phone that I carry. My therapist has told me to let go of the past and embrace the future. Don’t know what she meant by that but I believe a cell phone is one small step in the right direction.
    Thank you.

I just read the review of the HTC hero, and if I was ever “up the creek without a paddle” with this phone, I would still have my Canoe with me.

    HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO

Where have all the good phones gone and where are all the gods ?
Where’s the street-wise Hercules to fight the rising odds ?
Isn’t there a white knight upon a fiery steed ?
Late at night I toss and I turn and I dream of what I need

I need a hero, I’m holding out for at hero ’till the end of the night
It’s gotta be strong and it’s gotta be fast
And it’s gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero, I’m holding out for a hero ’till the morning light
It’s gotta be sure and it’s gotta be soon
And it’s gotta be larger than life, larger than life

    I need an HTC HERO!

I’ll be honest. Do I need a hero? No, not really. I have a phone that is described as “stone age” or “ghetto” by my friends but it gets the job done. I’m able to make calls with ease which is pretty much all I use the phone for. Although, I hear they have the internet on phones now, we’re truly living in the future yet in the now. Anyways, the phone has a lot of capabilities that my current phone doesn’t offer and I wasn’t planning on upgrading. So, either I stay with the past or get with the future. Either way, I’ll still be able to make calls and will be content.

My phone is antiquated. I could use an HTC Hero to bring me into this millennium.

    Why I need a HTC prize pack…

I have a friend who is obsessed with the HTC phone. For over a year he has linked me to every news feed, review, photograph and critic on the HTC. I am not a phone buff however I have a 360 degree appreciation for this awesome phone and features that make it the holy grail of cell phones. Not only does he want this phone but he loves it. If I where to win the prize pack I would give him an early birthday gift and finally full fill his dream of owning this magnificent technological wonder. I AM an HTC hero!

I was one of the first to enter a comment, but I don’t see it posted here, so that seems strange!

I have an old, really old bare bones Samsung that’s seen better day, so this HTC Prize Pac would serve my purpose quite nicely. I have gone through the HTC web site and read all the products descriptions about this phone and it’s right up there with the best of the best!

That being said, I hope I win it, so that I can donate my Samsung to some needy person who can still put it to good use!

Could really use a phone. Don’t have one right now and can’t afford to buy one. Doesn’t matter which phone. Any phone.

I’m a stay-at-home dad trying to get back into the workforce. If I had a new smart phone I would be able to work on my new business, and not have to worry about being at home to respond to emails. I’ve been living with a first generation RAZR (yes, it’s true), and now it’s time for an upgrade.

I came across a heroic quote and thought I’d pass it along. I hope it gives you a lift.

Out of every one hundred men, ten shouldn’t even be there,
    Eighty are just targets,
Nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them,
    For they make the battle.
    Ah, but the one,
    One is a warrior,
And he will bring the others back.

    I should win because:

My current phone is over four years old, not only is it old – it was the most affordable (cheapest) model available at the time. It doesn’t even take pictures.(gasp!). I am forced to take my pictures with a camera, just like when I was a little kid.

As a result of using an old over-sized phone, I am forced to carry purses that are old and ugly, as they have the large sized pockets for large cell phones of the era. My old ugly phone draws laughs and stares and I sometimes hide in the bathroom to make phone calls, because of the shame.

I would certainly become far more stylish overall with a cool android phone. In fact I might even pretend to be on the phone when I am not, just to show off the epic awesomeness.

If I win the phone I will shamelessly tweet and blog constantly about the awesomeness of every app I use.

I am overdue to win something, it has been a while and welcome a change in my luck. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. I am fully prepared to accept this prize package. Thanks for the opportunity.

    PS Greg Gazin sent me.

Plain and simple, I WANT it!

My current phone is the Motorola Razr…it was a good phone in its day, but it pails in comparison to the the Hero.

I am a Linux user, and have always been fascinated by the customize-ability of the different distros available. So when I heard Google was going to develop its own version of Linux for phones, I was hooked. I have been keeping up with the advancements and developments as they come. And more often than not, the newest most cutting edge phones have been those released by HTC!

Now the HTC Magic and the Dream for use on the Rogers network have been around a while. But I have been reluctant to get one. I have played with them, but they seem a bit unrefined, but that is to be expected with the first wave of Android phones. I don’t really care for the physical feel of them, nor the clunky feel of the version 1.0 android software they run.
But then when I saw the first images and read the first reviews of the HTC Hero last June, I was in love. I read every review I could, and searched for images and videos of the elusive phone. The feedback was awesome…it was the Android phone I was waiting for! They say it felt solid and well built and fit nicely in your hands, and the “chin” seemed to make your voice better heard by those on the other line by moving the proximity of the mic closer to your mouth. Android 1.5 (Cupcake) had a more snappy feel, and HTC’s new “Sense UI” brought it all together. Highly customizable screens, 7 to be exact, widgets galore and everything else imaginable. It had the speed, the looks and the usability both hardware and software wise.

But alas, my love affair had to wait, for it seemed that no Canadian carriers had distribution rights for the Hero. :(

Then when looking at what the carriers had to offer a guy looking to upgrade, I spotted the Hero. It was to be released the same day as the Iphone, but with a little less fanfare. I couldn’t believe it. Why would someone buy an inferior phone for more money? “There’s an app for that”…yeah but using an Android, there’s an app for that, and it’s FREE! Yup FREE! Android also uses non-proprietary formats and software, so any sound clip can be made as a ringtone, not just ones purchased from the “Istore”. With the Hero, the music playing capabilities are endless, using a standard 3.5mm headphone jack so no adapters are needed, you can listen to your existing mp3 library without converting any of them to a proprietary format, through proprietary software that has to “sync” with only ONE computer. Just use the USB cable, hook it to ANY computer, and drag and drop ANY song onto the upgradable microSD card, and you are good to go. It’s that easy. And best of all, no learning curve.

And it will also be getting an Android 2.0 or 2.1 (EClair)update adding even more functionality like Google voice and turn by turn navigation and more software refinements to make the user experience even better than it is already!

I can’t wait to get my hands on this beauty. I would love to get one FREE, as FREE as the apps you can download for it. All the extra bonus stuff would be awesome too. All decked out with all the HTC Android gear, chewing HTC gum, making all the “Apple Fanboys” jealous of the 5 megapixel camera on the Hero…what’s that? You paid how much for your Iphone? And it only has a 2 megapixel camera? LOL!

If I don’t win one, I am running out and buying one at the end of the month.
    Think Different…Think Android…Think Hero!
