The folks at Crayola, makers of the famous, you guessed it – Crayola Crayons have teamed up with Griffin Technology to come out with a co-branded line of earbuds and headphones specifically designed for the younger crowd. Not only are the MyPhones slightly smaller than your standard adult-size, they also have special built-in circuitry that peaks volume levels at 85dB (decibels) or lower to help protect young ears.
So How Loud Isn’t It?
To compare, normal conversation rate is about 60 dB; a cranked up iPod is about 105 dB and an ambulance siren or a Who concert (in their heyday) is 120 dB, so this gives you an idea as to how loud or not loud the sound can actually be.
Earbuds
Of course to make it fun to listen, the MyPhone Earbuds come in pretty cool colors – Purple Pizazz, Cotton Candy, and Caribbean Green and include with 3 different sizes of soft silicone earpads. What’s really cool, from a kid’s perspective of course is that the carry case is actually shaped like a Crayola crayon and matches the colour of the buds.
Over the Ear
The traditional over the ear MyPhone’s headphones come in 2 colour combinations pink/purple and blue/green. But in keeping with what Crayola is all about, the headphones also come with a bunch of stickers and Crayola markers so kids can really make them their own.
The MyPhone can not only save your child’s ears but they can also give you a little piece of mind and maybe even some peace and quiet. The earbuds sell for $14.99 US and the over the ear model is $24.99 US. Both are available through Griffin Technology.
