Wicked Audio Solus DJ headphones make a loud statement

- October 12th, 2012

 Wicked

Headphones have become somewhat of a piece of apparel and sometimes it’s not only how they sound and what they do that’s important but also how they look. Wicked Audio has taken all of these things into account and created the SOLUS DJ Headphones. Solus is Latin for “be yourself” and wearing these will no doubt make a personal statement.

These can-style DJ headphones are a wicked black with a devilish red insert. The stylized Wicked logo says it all. They have a fully adjustable headband, padded ear cups and a series of hinges that bend every which way from Sunday allowing you to use the headphones in a standard over the ear style, DJ style or collapse down for transport.

They’re equipped with a cool red braided tangle-free 4-foot cord, with a nice gold-plated headphone jack tip.

In-line, the cable has a built-in DJ switch allowing users to switch between stereo sound, where the right and left channel are separated and DJ sound mode where both channels come out of either ear cup. This  allows the DJ to hear the music’s full sound to perfectly queue up the next tune.

Look Loud, Sound Loud

While these headphones look pretty loud, they sound pretty loud too! They favour heavily on the bass, more conducive to nightclub style music. The output is less prominent on the highs and the midranges. Consequently these are not suited to all types of music, but that’s not what these headphones are all about.

Its nifty packaging is consistent with its wicked and loud theme. You also get a nylon carry pouch as well as a headphone extension cable and a quarter-inch adapter so it will plug-in to professional gear.

The Solus would make a great gift for Hallow’een if you’re in to that sort of thing – or anytime, really.

Check out my YouTube video to get a little more of a demonstration as to what these headphones are all about.

The Wicked Audio Solus Wi8700 Headphones retail for $99.99, but are not sold directly through Wicked. You can pick them up Amazon.ca or Amazon.com. If you keep a wicked eye out for them, you might be able to find them for substantially less.
