Apple Event March 7th, might we see iPad 3?

Rumours of the iPad 3 have been running rampant, in fact rumblings of a 3rd generation Apple tablet began even days before the release of the current incumbent, the iPad 2, a year ago.  Well, we might be closer to that reality as pictures of their media invite slated for March 7th at 10AM PT  (1PM ET) have been circulating around the net.

Tell-Tale Signs

The picture that we’ve seen doesn’t specifically say  “iPad”, but the telltale signs are there. The picture is that of  what looks like an iPad with an extremely high-resolution screen with a finger dangling just above the calendar icon showing, Wednesday the 7th. The caption to the bottom right of the photograph says, “We have something you really have to see. And touch.”

What we all know that Apple announcements are always shrouded in secrecy, but often we’re given little hints. The “something you have to see” part, could mean that we’ll be seeing the Retina display finally being added to this Apple’s largest iOS device. The “touch” could mean a few things. Now were not sure if that photo was taken in landscape or portrait mode or even air-brushed, but if it was in fact taken in portrait mode there’s no obvious sign of a Home button, so maybe that’s what the touch is referring to – no more Home button.

So what might we see?

So assuming that were right and will see a new iPad 3 next Wednesday, what kinds of things do you think we might see?

Some of the rumblings floating around include 4G LTE compatibility, a tapered design, an 8MP camera and the possibility of an A6 quad-core processor with a bump up in RAM from the current 512MB.

Places like Mac Rumors claimed that they’ve actually had in hand, a high-res iPad 3 Retina display, which would double its resolution to 2048 x 1536. At the same time, we’ve also heard talk of both a slightly thicker form factor as well as a smaller version – a possible 7” or even an odd-sized 8-inch model, which according to a recent report in the Wall Street Journal, Asia Technology section, Apple  and suppliers were supposedly testing out.

Of course, there’s always somebody grumbling about an SD card slot and USB port, which I think personally, is just not Apple’s style.

I guess the final details of Apple’s event remain to be seen. Sometimes rumours are just rumours. In fact just hours ago there was a rumour that the event would be held in New York City.

Your Guess?

Do you think we going to see the iPad 3 next week and if so what do you think will be included?

Either way, rest assured, I’ll be staying tuned in.

Any word if the iPad HD will be available in the Aeroplan redemption store?

If you are referring to the Digital Media Store, then it only offers downloadable content. If you are talking about the Aeroplan rewards site, then there is a good chance, since they currently do offer the iPad.

In any event the iPad 3 hasn’t even been released, so when it does it then it remains to be seen.
