Interactive Google Doodle celebrates Star Trek’s 46th Anniversary

- September 7th, 2012

StarTrekDoodle

The Star Trek franchise continues to boldly go where no one has gone before. It’s hard to believe that Captain James T. Kirk and crew are now celebrating their 46th anniversary.

To commemorate this milestone, Google has created another one of their infamous “Doodles”, especially for this event. And like many others we’ve seen recently, the Doodle is actually a short little interactive animated adventure, quite appropriate to celebrate the adventures of the Starship Enterprise.

Beaming over to Google’s main search materializes you onto the bridge of the Enterprise. Each letter in the word Google is a character that any Trekker would immediately recognize. Turn up your volume, click away and enjoy a little desktop diversion and see if you can follow Kirk to victory. And if you’re a true fan you might even figure out what episode the little adventure is from and spot some of the cute and cuddly Tribbles along the way.

While the Star Trek 46th doodle can be found right now on Google’s home page, the 46th anniversary is actually tomorrow. The 1st episode, “The Man Trap” originally aired Thursday, September 8th, 1966.

The Star Trek Doodle is on Google’s main search page. If you miss it, previous Doodles are archived.

Well, that was fun! I found at lease one if not two interacitve characters on each screen.

What I like even more is the link you provided to previous Doodles archive. I missed some of the interactive olympics doodles, so now I can go back and check those out!

Thanks smv. Yeah! I played the olympic Soccer doodle game for maybe longer that I should have!

You’ll note there that there are Google Doodles that appear on other Google sites that we don’t see here in Canada (or the US).

    Doodle on!
