Apple adds iPhone to Back-To-School promo

- July 5th, 2013

BTS Mac and iPad

About this time each year, Apple offers a Back-to-School promotion where they offer some sort of incentive, typically a gift card, to encourage post-secondary students to buy a Mac or an iPad before the school fall session kicks in.

Now this year is no different, except for the first time, they’ve included the iPhone as part of the promotion. No reason was given why, although one could hazard a guess that it might have to do with a new iPhone in the works and they want to clear out old stock.

Regardless, if you qualify, i.e., if you are a post-secondary student, current or accepted or parent of same or faculty or staff ,then here’s the deal this year. With the purchase of a Mac, you get a $100 App Store Gift Card or a $50 gift card with the purchase of an iPad or iPhone. Plus with Educational pricing, you usually save off the regular retail price as well.

The purchase can’t be made just anywhere. It must be made through the Apple Online Store for Education, an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Campus Store (except the iPhone which cannot be purchased at campus stores).

The Back to School promotion runs until September 6, 2013.  It should be interesting to see if a new iPhone shows up between now and then.
