Offering incentives to get customer to stay at one’s hotel is nothing new these days and with so many outlets vying for your hospitality dollar, it’s something you’d likely expect. Discounts, free breakfasts, coupon books, and even gas are some of the typical things you’d normally see. But for Desires Hotels, a group of unique modern boutique inns, it’s not about free food, it’s all about The Beatles.
Staying for 2+ nights in one of their participating hotels will not only earn you a 10% discount, you’ll be able to take home a free copy of The Beatles: Rock Band game for (Xbox 360, PS/3 or Wii). Make it 3+ nights and get the premium bundle that includes the Fab Four’s replica instruments.
Plus, when you are there, you can participate in The Beatles: Rock Band Happy Hour to get you revved up. Of course, you need to confirm all of this with the hotel. You do need to book directly using the Promo code BEATLES. Things are always for a limited time subject to terms, conditions & availability.
Interestingly, in their promotion, they’re comparing the uniqueness and excitement of The Beatles landing at New York’s JFK airport in February 1964 to “ the ability to experience The Beatles like you’ve never done before, when you stay at one of hotels”. And while the incentives are different, I find that tie-in just a bit of a stretch, just as I find the customers jumping with joy to the Ringo infused “Little Help From My Friends” ditty in the Hampton Inn commercials.
But I have to give them credit. It is a neat little cross-promotion and Desires did get my attention, so in the words of late great John Lennon, it “passed the audition”.
One thing to remember before you “Get Back” home to Canada – make sure you keep enough of your holiday money to pay the airline for the cost of the extra luggage, and you’ll need to declare it at customs when you cross the border.

Interesting concept! On a side note, The Beatles: Rock Band is completely over rated…way too easy.
