Master your grill remotely

- August 23rd, 2011

iGrill

There are just a few precious weeks of summertime grilling left. If you want to make the most of them, a really cool gadget I’ve been trying out is the iGrill, a Bluetooth grilling/cooking thermometer.

The iGrill is the world’s first wireless meat thermometer that comes with an app for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad, letting you monitor your food with your device via a long-range Blutooth connection. The gadget comes with two probes to insert into your food while on the grill, transmitting cooking status to your mobile device. This means you can relax with your guests while your food cooks at the safe, target temperature.

The iGrill comes with recipes, and you can also use as a stand-alone thermometer and kitchen timer.

The iGrill is the winner of the ’2011 Bluetooth Innovator of the year’. You can pick it up at the Apple store for $99.95or at the iGrill website.

You must be kidding. What true Griller needs another electronic gadget for BBQing? The joy of grilling comes from watching and smelling the meat you are cooking, while at the same time, enjoying a nice cold beer or glass of wine. Remote Grilling??? Good grief, let’s get back to basics and stay there!!!

I am sorry but this is not barbequing. If you are this lazy, use the kitchen stove. Real barbequing is a hands on art form. Keep the techno-geeks away from the BBQ.

These units work well for smoking or when grilling a roast on the BBQ
