The CES Innovation Design and Engineering Awards are like the Golden Globes for designers, manufacturers and developers of consumer products. Instead of the Foreign Press, the products are judged by a panel comprised of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade press.

We’ve all heard about Last Comic Standing, how about Last Gadget Standing? It has nothing to do with funny gadgets or anything funny about them, but it does have to do with bragging rights. Hosted by a duo of guest emcees – Gary Dell’Abate and Jon Hein from the infamous Howard Stern Show, Last Gadget Standing, according to the good folks from CES (Consumer Electronics Show), singles out one product that’s voted as “most likely to change the face of technology.”
CES 2012: HzO shows off waterproof iPhone
Have you ever dropped your iPhone or any other electronic gadget for that matter into the toilet? Chances are that when it dried out it probably didn’t work or likely not function the way it should. And even if you are using a protective shield or case, water is a determined beast. It will eventually find its way to penetrate down through to the guts of your device and play havoc on its electronics.
Exhibitors jumping the gun on CES announcements
The annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Vegas every January is usually the place where new products are announced and unveiled to the general public. Often, final details of new products are kept under wrap, to build suspense until the show actually begins where they are then rolled out with a bang hoping for an ooh-aah response. However, with the number of press releases hitting my inbox in advance of CES 2012 with very few embargoed until after Jan 10th, I wonder if this trend is really reversing.
