There doesn’t seem to be a shortage of phone lines in my household but truth being told, with Skype, Facetime and my iPhone readily available, I hardly use them. While I’m not sure I’m ready to totally cut out the cord, it would be nice to find a way to cut down some of those monthly expenses.

I know very few people under the age of 35 who have a traditional landline telephone. What was once a staple of virtually every Canadian home is now seen by some – especially younger urbanites – as an unnecessary and expensive throwback in the age of ubiquitous cellphones.

Aliens take over Mobilicity

When I read the headline about aliens taking over Mobilicity (formerly DAVE Wireless), the first thing that popped into my head was somewhat silly. It was that the CRTC is going to have fun with this one.  You know, the foreign ownership thing?  But as it turns out, it’s just one of the newer entrants into the mobile carrier space unveiling a new corporate identity.

Skype says sorry, offers goodwill gesture

As a follow up to It’s Skype, it’s not my computer really, it appears that that not only has Skype seem to have resolved their recent outage issue, they are in fact offering both an apology and a gesture of goodwill in the form of Skype credit.
