Before the tech world was fawning over smartphones and tablets, the hot tech accessory was the PDA, an ultra-small, portable computer. Palm was far and away the leader in these devices, largely thanks to their Linux-based mobile OS called PalmOS. Last year Palm was acquired by HP, who has a firm foot planted in the hardware market and are now taking steps to be a dominant player in software.
