Every week someone I talk to complains about problems with the browser that came on their smartphone. Whether it’s the Blackberry Browser or the Nokia Browser, there is always someone that doesn’t like their default browser.
While browser producer Opera isn’t new to the game, they have recently released a new version of their Mini Browser. It’s still in Beta mode but Opera Mini 5 is a huge improvement on Mini 4 as well as the majority of other default browsers.
Opera Mini 5 has a large list of updates but I think there is one that needs to be pointed out – Tabbed Browsing. Tabbed browsing allows you to have multiple browser pages open at once, it is something that computers have had for a while, and it’s nice to see it on a browser accessible to most smartphones.
I have been testing Opera Mini 5 on my BlackBerry Curve, it may be different from phone to phone, but for me, it is a huge upgrade over the default browser that came on my phone. I had one small issue where it crashed the browser, but in a bunch of surfing so far, it has had very little problems for a Beta.
So if you aren’t afraid to try something new, then give it a try, it’s a free download, and you too may enjoy easier browsing on your smartphone.
It is currently available for:
