If Joffrey Reynolds plays in the CFL this season, it will be with another team.
The Calgary Stampeders have released their all-time leading rusher to allow him the chance to hook up with a job somewhere else.
This isn’t an unexpected move. Reynolds lost his starting job to Jon Cornish midway through last season — his first full one in the CFL where he didn’t compile 1,000 yards.
The Stamps tried to accommodate a trade for the 32-year-old but didn’t find any dancing partners.
“Despite our attempts to find Joffrey a new home, we were unable to complete a transaction,” Stamps GM-head coach John Hufnagel said. “By releasing him now rather than waiting until later in the off-season, we wanted to make sure Joffrey had the best opportunity to sign with another team. We thank Joffrey for his years of excellent service to the Stampeders and wish him all the best.”
When Reynolds arrived in 2004, he quickly established himself as a workhorse running back capable of huge games.
Since then, he’s never missed a game due to injury, bringing stability to a position other teams often find in flux.
In his career, Reynolds has 9,213 rushing yards and 2,036 receiving yards. He leaves the Stamps having won a Grey Cup in 2008 and being the West Division nominee for most outstanding player once (2009).
Reynolds is seventh on the CFL’s all-time rushing list, just 117 yards behind former Stampeders great Kelvin Anderson, who finished his career with the B.C. Lions.

It’s too bad that Joffery was released, He is one fantastic person, not just a player. Hopefully he will be signed by someone else. Good luck Joffery. Bye the way was he injured to the extent where he was incapable of continuing last year?
