Movember Comes To Council

- November 2nd, 2011

At least one councillor is growing his moustache during Movember. I recall last year Keith Egli had an excellent ‘stache at the end of the month. Egli is again challenging his colleagues to join in. Here’s the email he sent me:

I am very excited to announce that for a second year in a row I will be participating in the Movember Campaign to help raise funds and awareness for men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer.

This cause is very close to my family as my father-in-law passed away a couple years ago after losing his battle with prostate cancer. In addition, I am also a father of three boys and believe that we must do all we can to educate, create awareness and promote both private and public dialogue around prostate cancer and other men’s health issues.

The funds raised via the Movember Campaign support Prostate Cancer Canada and also the Movember Foundation, which uses the money to fund an awareness/education program and support its Global Action Plan, which facilitates global research collaboration projects.

I challenge all of my Council colleagues to participate in Movember by growing a moustache (if applicable) and raising funds or by simply spreading the word about the campaign and raising awareness.

You can check in with the progress of Egli’s moustache here.
