It appears the city and CUPE Local 503 have quietly reached a tentative agreement on a new contract for library staff.
A message posted July 9 by the union on its website says the two sides reached an agreement July 7. There have been no details released.
“The president would like to express his gratitude and appreciation to the bargaining team for all their hard work during this very tough round of negotiations,” the union says.
The last three-year collective agreement expired Dec. 31, 2011.
The contract for library employees is separate from the larger union contract, which was ratified last May.
At last check there were roughly 650 employees in the library bargaining group.
It could take a bit for the deal to be ratified since the library board doesn’t have a scheduled meeting until Sept. 10.
