We like to talk about transit in today’s Sun. Here’s a few things I thought I’d direct your attention to:
Today’s editorial has some suggestions for the city and new OC Transpo general manager John Manconi. A reader who wrote a letter to the editor shares his opinion, too, on filling the top job at Transpo.
Reporter Larissa Cahute got hold of driver abuse reports over two years. Disgustingly, spitting on drivers was the most common type of violence. A sample of some of the reports is here, along with the union calling for better protection for its drivers.
I checked in with a few councillors about this idea to extend the O-Train to Riverside South. There is no plan to actually do it in the immediate future, but here’s how it would be built if the time ever comes.
And finally, there is this small heads up that the Transpo business plan will be deferred at Wednesday’s transit commission meeting. Commission chairwoman Diane Deans let reporters know this week Manconi and deputy city manager need some time to go through it.
