Got any thoughts on the Drummond report?
I find it hilarious one of the recommendations is to cut high school back to four years by eliminating the so-called victory lap.
Wait, what? Didn’t the Ontario government do this already?
They certainly did. But it turns out after serving their standard four years, many kids come back for a second shot at the final year anyway.
So eliminating the fifth year — which, in my day, was called Grade 13 — was all for nothing.
By the way, even when high school officially took five years, some students still came back to improve their grades. We called that Grade 14.
You had to party real hard to wind up in Grade 14.
