I mention my friend Ashlie in this week’s column, which I linked to in the post below.
Ashlie’s blog, Nonsense, is one of my favourites. You should read it.
It has the best tagline ever — “Do you like randomness? I do!” In other words, her blog is a little bit of everything.
Her latest post is about how she came to love comics and the comic store L.A. Mood.
You can read it by clicking here.
Enjoy!

Dan…no blog on the arrests of the two protestors?….let me add a few observations…why does the one dude look so sad? did he not like his roommate?….how come the evil corporate media were called to interview them?…better yet how come the HRC issues with McLeans, Levant and Steyn got less press than this?….was it because of Faisal Joseph being too close for comfort for the editor/paper to take on?….maybe they hung in the same social circles…potential for some awkward meetings…no?
I would submit the two protestors knew they would get caught…wanted to get caught….and love the fact they were caught…..at least the “mature Fanshawe student” (25 and in college…who are you Bluto Blutraski “zero…point… zero”) who I would further submit is living off student loans from the even more evil banks who in all probability will default on said loans…knows now to order ahead for the vegan or kosher meal
All this activity must get the likes of Gina Barber all a tingle…she better fire up that non union made Honda of hers and take those wacky college kids out for a Tofu burger….
gara4567: We will be covering this story on the radio tomorrow. My gut reaction is there is no good guy here. I don’t sympathize with the students and I don’t sympathize with the police either. Oh, I also wish the GSummits weren’t even being held in Canada.
Planned outing… pure and simple…..agree with you on the Summits being elsewhere…I would put them on Toronto Island…no comment on the HRC observation?
gary4567: How about this for an idea, which I heard proposed somewhere: If security is an issue, why not hold the summit on an aircraft carrier off the North American coast? That would be the most safe setting, wouldn’t it?
In total agreement….but I think you have to give the impression that you you do not fear those who are the enemy…really…. if something did really go down there would be no one left standing who was/was perceived to be connected to it…it will really be one of the few instances where “kill’em all let God sort’em out” would be applied
gary4567: We’ve turned Toronto into an armed fortress, so we might as well have the summit on an aircraft carrier — or an army base.
I agree, I think those guys were out to get arrested. I think I’ve talked to that Darius guy before at Sunfest one year, I believe he was running a booth for war resisters or something.
And yes, people should read my blog – I think it’s awesome!
ashlie: Agreed!
ashlie: They’re knobs and the police are bullies. So I call shenanigans on both sides.
Dan, if you call shenanigans on both sides, can we let them roshambeau for the prize of biggest knob?
nflfan: Um, sure. What’s a roshambeau?
Sorry Dan, I thought you were calling shennanigans based on the South Park definition of that, which allowed the townsfolk to beat the crap out of the local fair vendor pulling shennanigans (scaming people). According to another South Park episode, Cartman says that,”we should roshambeau for it (whatever he wanted at that time)”. When asked, he explains that when you roshambeau for something,”I kick you in the nuts, then you kick me in the nuts and we go back and forth until someone falls down. Then, whoever’s left standing gets it”. So, would you like to see the police and the “protestors” roshambeau for the right to be the bigger knob?
nflfan: OH YEAH
