More on planned obsolescence

- July 31st, 2012

You may recall I profiled Lisa Gaverluk a while back. The local store owner blogs under the name of her clothing label, Weezi.

In this post, she picks up some of the ideas I mentioned when I columnized about planned obsolescence — the manufacturing strategy of making deliberately shoddy goods with a very limited lifespan.

All she asks it that consumers put a conscious thought into their purchases. I agree. There’s are alternatives to buying cheap crap from China all the time. Each dollar you spend is a vote, so spend them wisely.

Thanx Dan!!! All it takes is a wee bit of time and knowledge and some careful thinking :)

I totally agree. We were discussing the stores whose businesses depend on “offshore” products and it’s our – my hubby’s and my – intention to not buy that stuff as much as possible. Quality matters. Our neighbours matter! Darn it Weezi, you matter too. :-)
