(1) I watched some of the coverage on the news nets on Sunday. Not a single person who was interviewed said “I’m surprised she died so young.”
(2) To my generation (people who came of age in the 1980s), she was a singer, perhaps even a great one. To the current generation, she was just another whacked-out reality-show star.
(3) In case it’s not clear, “She was found dead in a hotel room in Beverly Hills” is code for “She died of an accidental drug overdose.”
Got any thoughts on this one?

Yes, I think that was pretty ignorant and cruel in fact, and you should know better. You make an assumption knowing full well there must be an autopsy done, as well as toxicollogy tests which take weeks. Funny, but while that thought crossed my mind…like it did yours, the thought of her daughter, as well as the fact that she has been fully responsible for herself and overcome much more than you could even understand held back any ignorant judgement I could make. Michael Jackson was killed by his doctor, and it is looking much like I thought with Whitney Huston, which would be an accidental drowning. You did not even wait for the next relative article to be published before you ignorantly posted this. If you had, you would have read that there was no sign of anything around her except the same anti anxiety pills found in most homes in this city. Less than the coroner stated he takes himself. One prescription pill with side effects of drowsiness, busy demanding social schedule like you or I likely have never experienced, and a few exhaustive moments in between events in a warm bath in a quiet room. Drowning, car accident, work accident. Same thing, different place. Overextended. Is also why I refuse to take prescription medicine.
Whitney Houston was a “reality show star”??? Seriously; I never knew.
Her first album was beautiful, her 2nd was OK (too much dance music) and by the time we got to the Bodyguard soundtrack and those looonnnnngggggg ooooohhhhhhhss on “I Will Always Love You”, she was over the top. Instead of Bobby Brown, I think she needed a spouse who wasn’t in “the industry” and might have kept her grounded.
The only news coverage of this I heard was the announcement (on TMZ’s Facebook feed no less) and anything on the 6:00 news.
@ S.L.: Accident? This woman, talented as she was (and she most certainly was), constantly and voluntarily put herself in harm’s way and IMHO, that’s called inevitable, not accidental.
