Weekend report

- February 13th, 2012

I had a jam-packed weekend. How about you?

Among the highlights:

On Saturday morning, M’Lady and I took part in the regular monthly graphic-novel group meeting at L.A. Mood.

If you’re looking for a fun group to join, we’d love to have you out. This month’s book was Red Rackham’s Treasure by Herge, prompted by the recent big-screen Tintin adaptation from Steven Spielberg. If you’re interested, we meet the second Saturday morning of every month and this year we’ve got books by Neil Gaiman, R. Crumb and Dave Sim on our reading list!

Also on Saturday, we went to Western Fair District to take in WOMEX, the coolest motorcycle show going. It was a ton of fun. Even if you’re not into bikes, the people-watching is amazing.

If you missed it, the Kitchener edition of WOMEX takes place March 10-11.

The rest of Saturday and Sunday was taken up with friends and family. I need a weekend to recover from my weekend!

I was sick, the entire weekend.

The only place I made it was to St Petersburg, and only because I already had a ticket to see Penn & Teller. I was completely impressed with their show.

Had a good weekend. Busy, like yours.
My birthday was about a week ago and my wife said,”You have to pick out something for your birthday”. Basically, I’m to the age where other than new CD releases, there’s not much I want or need. Anyway, I tried looking into Smartphones & tablets on Saturday in White Oaks, while she got her hair cut. Although the Apple & Samsung devices are getting all the buzz, 2 sales people in different stores were high on the Acer tablet. I have a 6 year old Motorola cell phone on a $10/month Pay As You Go plan that I’d have to upgrade to a 3 year plan to get the full features of a Smartphone to work and I had to dig around for an hour the other night looking for the wireless antenna for our home router (we disabled the wirelsss as soon as we boutgh the thing 5 years ago). At the end of the day though, I work full time from home and as one guy said to me,”it sounds like this will just be an expensive toy for you”. He was right and I didn’t buy one.
Now, what the hell am I gonna get for my birthday?

@nflfan: OMGosh, I’m not alone! My Motorola is almost 6 years old and I use the $100/year pay-as-you-go card. As a matter of fact, I think you recommended the pay-as-you-go method to me when I was originally looking for a cell phone (yes, it’s a PHONE folks…doesn’t even take pictures!) and I’ve NEVER been sorry…THANKS!
