Read this article, and ask yourself what is meant by an “Asian” gang. Hindu thugs, or louts wearing turbans? I think not. The same media that is so quick to describe people as Christian, even when they are not, is so reluctant to use the word Muslim, even when it so obviously applies. This painful double-standard is also seen when we read of honour killings and terrorism. Oh, the joys of liberalism!
The Turkish Delight of Hypocrisy.
Oh, I just love this. The French intend to make public denial of the Armenian genocide a criminal offence. I don’t agree with this precise approach to the scandal, but I do applaud France for having long defended the Armenian people, and having not allowed the Turkish bullies to promote the vile lie that there was no genocide, and that the Armenians simply died under war conditions. There certainly was an attempted genocide, the Turks certainly did try to wipe out the Armenians, the event certainly did partly inspire Hitler, and for almost a century Turkey has been in organized denial, and various other nations have followed suit. What defies credulity now is that the Turks have accused the French of clamping down on free speech! This from a country that has more journalists in prison than any other on the face of the earth, and that has for generations assassinated writers, politicians, and activists who speak up for the Armenians. There are all sorts of reasons for Paris pursuing this latest project, and it has much to do with foreign policy as well as moral absolutes, but there cannot be a more hypocritical country than Turkey. While invading Kurdistan and killing thousands, they condemn Israel for defending its people. They occupy Cyprus, destroy Christian churches and holy places, kill male and female clergy, arrest military and political opponents on trumped up charges, and now lecture the civilized French on how to behave. Shame on them.
Those Awful French and Their Burka Ban
This, from the British press: A Muslim man who punched a nurse for trying to remove his wife’s burqa during childbirth has been jailed in France. Nassim Mimoune, 24, had already been expelled from the delivery room for branding the midwife a ‘rapist’ as she carried out an intimate examination of his wife. Then through a window he spotted the nurse taking off his wife’s burqa as she prepared to give birth. He smashed open the locked door and hit the woman in the face, demanding she replace the full Islamic face veil. As his wife delivered a baby boy, Mimoune was ejected from the building by security men from the hospital in Marseille and arrested for assault. A judge in the southern French port jailed Mimoune for six months on Wednesday, telling him: Your religious values are not superior to the laws of the republic.
Islam: Religion of Violence.
The leader of the English Defence League, Tommy Robinson, has just been beaten up by a Muslim gang, and is now in hospital with multiple fractures. The religion of peace at work again. Tommy has said: “They were shouting Allah Akbar and Merry Christmas Tommy.” I have interviewed Tommy twice on my show, and he is an anti-fascist, a supporter of free speech, and someone who is prepared to expose the authentic nature of Islam. For that he has been assaulted. Now let’s wait for the excuses.

Christopher Hitchens was one of the most gifted, witty, stylish, and brave journalists of his generation. His atheism was severely misplaced, and his analysis of Scripture and religion fragile and cursory, but his commitment to freedom, his kindness, his opposition to anti-Semitism and Islamic fundamentalism, his belief that life begins at the point of conception and his refusal to be limited by the left were admirable. I first met him in 1982, when I was hired by the News Statesman magazine in London. He was, and remained, an impressive and intensely charming and likeable man, whose ability to convey a message was delicious. My condolences to his family.
Justins!
One of these Justins is talented, came from a poor background, had no connections to give him an easy life and career, and manages to retain at least an element of humility. Oh, and he’s the more informed and intelligent of the two. What a piece of sh ….ameful behaviour from the dauphin, the pampered prince of Canadian poltics.
Irshad Manji: My Friend of 20 Years. Proud to Say That.
My old and dear friend Irshad Manji, the progressive Muslim author, has been attacked with eggs in Amsterdam, and a mob of extremists has threatened to break her neck. I bet it’s those nasty, intolerant Christians again. I do hope the CBC and The Toronto Star give us lots of stories about how bad these Jesus-worshippers are.
