“Coren Tonight” Starts in August on Sun News TV!

- June 29th, 2011

I will host The Michael Coren Show on CTS for the last time on Thursday, June 30th. From July 4th I join Sun News TV, where from August I will host the prime time show Coren Tonight. It will air at 7pm, repeated later in the evening. I won numerous awards, both in Canada and the US, with my TV show, have hosted more than 3000 episodes and was also its producer for the past year. This opportunity, however, was too good to decline. The show will stress international coverage – particularly the Middle East, the US and Europe – but also take on social, moral, and religious issues and Canadian life and politics. Some of the best guests from the Michael Coren Show, both left and right and those who agree and disagree with the host, will be joining me on Coren Tonight.

What! One month of no Michael Coren show?

    Well, congratulations :)

Worst kept secret in Canadian television. Break a leg — just not mine, please.

  3. Chris says:

Is it still panel discussion group format or will it be mostly a one on one style interview? I still hope we’ll still see some of your old regulars.

  4. SMC says:

    Congratulations and break a leg.

  5. Mackey says:

    Congratulations.

  6. Mark Spark says:

    Yaaaay!

  7. George says:

Congratulations Michael. I figured such a move was inevitable.

I feel you, and recently Ezera are the only two shows worth watching on TV. I’m sure many more will now be thinking the same.

  8. SMC says:

BTW, do you know where Theo Caldwell is going? I’ll miss his show.

Congratulations, although a bit of a dissapointment for me.
I don’t get SunTV anynore because for what ever reason Bell stopped carrying it after it had initially aired. So, I will miss watching the MC Show. One of the best talk shows on TV…and one everyone should watch if they want to be more truly informed!

Ezra, I will miss that opportuity to see you and Michael team up on the show!

As someone who has watched his show religiously for the past four years, I did not greet the news that Michael will be leaving CTS to join Sun TV with open arms. My motto is if it’s not broken don’t fix it and I, along with many other viewers, have thoroughly enjoyed watching his show and the array of interesting (and not so interesting) guests he has had on for the past number of years. My favorites were Claire Hoy, David Menzies, Sid Ryan, Marianne Meed Ward, Laura Babcock, the Faith Matters show and the Entertainment show. It was one of the few programs where people could actually speak their mind no matter what side of the political spectrum they were on and it was truly a breath of fresh air. Though the details of the new show have not been released, I don’t believe it will be the same format (panel discussion) which is unfortunate. Though I do not watch Sun TV (I tried but quite honestly it just doesn’t do it for me) I will of course tune in to “Coren Tonight” and I truly wish him all the best.

Well congratulations (I suppose), but my immediate reaction was “Oh no!” Will somebody stop the world, no more changes please! My gas station closed down this week and now this…….it’s one thing after another recently, and it really is too much. Can anyone tell me how we get Sun News on Bell Satellite? i suppose I could call them to find out. aaagh!
Can we watch the show online?

This announcement makes so much sense. Sun News TV and Michael Coren go together like bacon and eggs. Used to regularly watch the CTS show until it moved to a later slot.

Sun News is delivered as part of the basic cable package so I’d advise Bell subscribers to cancel and move to cable. Bell fears competition for CTV News. For those like me who refuse to tune to CBC News (except for Kevin O’Leary) CTV News was the only play in town. Now they are toast. No longer will have to suffer Liberal shills, Craig Oliver and Robert Fife.

  15. Will Harry Kopyto be joining you on your new show Michael? He’s funnier and even more ridiculous than those Jackass and Naked Gun movies combined. Andrea Calver was hilarious too. Can you please bring Barbara Hall onto your new show? Or perhaps she’s too busy harassing regular hardworking folk with bogas Human Rights complaints from looney lefties and radical Islamic fundamentalists.

Looking forward to seeing your new show on SunTV. Thanks for all you do for true democracy and being a voice of reason & common sense.

  16. Sean says:

I look forward to the social and moral issues part of your show. That’s my main focus.

  17. Thumbnail says:

Congratulations! I will now try to find you on the web, from Australia.

  18. Jacob Peters says:

What!!!!! No Harry Kopyto!!! I loved watching Harry on your show, Michael. I do not take anything he says seriously, but he is really FUNNY. I think I watched ever episode with him in it, and always looked out for him. Harry is the funniest socialist I ever met. If only Lenin or Trotsky had Harry’s sense of humour!!

    Michael,

I will really miss you on CTS; your show was the best thing on TV bar none. However I look forward to your new venture, and I know it will be a good product because you are at the helm, making all the important production/guest decisions. And for those worried that they won’t be able to see Michael’s new show, SUN TV is available on good, old-fashioned over-the-air television (as CTS is), and you don’t have to pay anybody a single penny! (It’s the best kept secret of the media giants *WHOOPS*).
