Germany’s attempt to create a multicultural society has “utterly failed”, according to Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Her comments have given a further edge to the heated discussion taking place across Europe over immigration and in particular Islam. The German leader told members of her party’s youth wing that allowing people of different cultural backgrounds to live side by side without integrating has been a failure.
This is vitally important because of who has said it and where it has been said. There are four million Muslims in Germany and because of the Nazi obscenity the Germans have for sixty years been terrified of being seen as in any way racist or intolerant. In fact they are not intolerant at all. Neither are the Swedes, the Dutch or the Danes. Frankly the French, Belgians and Swiss are less relaxed but all of these people, and many others in Europe, are questioning how the open and liberal cultures they have built can continue with a large Islamic minority.
The British will be the last to react because of their fundamental decency and Italy, Spain and central and eastern Europe have yet to experience the same demographic challenges. But at some point in the next few years some enormous and possibly dangerous questions will be asked and sweeping answers given. God save us from interesting times.
Morris,
This is what Merkel said:
“We feel tied to Christian values. Those who don’t accept them don’t have a place here,” said the chancellor.”
savvy
That is precisely the point. I do not want nazis and communists to come here and sell us their values. Our values include equal rights for each of our citizens and we must guard them. Others have different values. Some think less of women. That is not acceptable to us.
That was not very wise of Merkel to say that. But I can understand that. The values she called christian are secular and by and large accepted universally in all secular countries. The values she is referring to in contrast are non-christian. Therefore I think she used the word christian. I think she should have used the term ‘our German values’. With this in mind, I see nothing wrong with that statement.
Morris,
I agree with this statement, but this is going to be used against her. I hope she is ready to defend it. I had to sit through a documentary class on “Triumph of the Will” and the Leftist Professor was talking about how American patriotism, Christianity and Nazism were the same.
So when a woman who represents the “Christian Democrats” makes a statement like this, they will come after her.
Savvy says; Will you quit the traditionalist conspiracy theories. Mel Gibson is not Catholic. A Catholic is someone who the church says is Catholic. This only gives our enemies more ammunition.
Gibson is Catholic a little extra conservative,Pope Benedict has not ruled out traditionlists. It’s an accepted order even in the Vatican.Vatican ll has been a complete disaster & things will change. As of November 2011 1st week of Advent the Roman Missal will change to a more Latin friendly Mass throughout many parishes. You walk into a Catholic Mass today & it’s too much Protestant like.
Savvy says; This only gives our enemies more ammunition. Not so savvy(no pun intended)these enemies will not listen anyways. As any prophet will tell you God only ask that we share our faith & are very aware that they will not listen or understand. The sheep will hear my voice.Mel Gibson they will at least listen to because he is famous. That’s why the Jews in Hollywood made sure to silence him.He speaks for Christ & proclaims Christ in many of his movies.Again God before used many Catholic kings in Europe now he(Holy Spirit) will use the media to proclaim Christ.
I think
Roman Catholics are red wine.
Protestants are white wine.
Jews are cognac (been around longer)
Muslims are non-alchoholic ginger beer (nobody seems to like them)
Hindus are whiskey (got to be strong to have that many gods)
Budhists are mescal (wwwwooooo????)
Atheists are tequila (there’s a worm in it)
Agnostics are alcool (goes with anything)
MC is coke cola (the real thing)
French Canadians are Pepsi’s (not sure why it’s something my father used to say)
Not sure what MC is? Is that a bahama mama?
however you do get the point.
In regards to the Jews; do not mix the old wine with the new.
Christ is the new ultimate sacrifice, the Lamb has been slaughtered for our redemption. The Jewish faith is now in vain because they do not believe.
The Roman Catholic Church is the New Covenant everything else is heresy!
The Roman Catholic Church is given the authority by Christ to Loosen & Bind any sins of man on earth as it is in heaven period.
The religions you mention have no authority now in respect of these other religions they do deserve respect of course & most have good intentions however they are just philosophys for this life not the next (the afterlife).
John,
The traditionalists who the Pope has not ruled out are not Sedevancatists. Please do your homework. They are a different group. Please know the difference.
John,
There’s a little book called the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Please consult it before you decide to post and post gibberish.
Savvy says; The traditionalists who the Pope has not ruled out are not Sedevancatists. Please do your homework. They are a different group. Please know the difference.
Savvy I do my homework, Mel Gibson is NOT a Sedevancatist; he is a Traditionalist Catholic. You are mistaken for his father Hutton.Mel’s father has said a few crazy things however when you think about it;it does make sense. The Vatican ll Council was a Masonic plot backed by the Jews. There were more Protestants making suggestions than Catholics at this Council. They infiltrated several hundred homosexual priests that would make the Russians proud.Do you think this is far-fetched?
The movie: The Passion of the Christ was a historically factual film where his ideas came from a German nun centuries ago. Many Catholic Saints in the past from St.Bridget & St.Matilda wanted to know something of the passion of Christ & it was revealed to them how Christ was violently attacked just like Mel’s movie. He is not a crackpot like you are suggesting.I think Mel Gibson also has the rights to Bill O’Reilly’s book? that could be interesting.
John
Old or new they all have one thing in common, indulge too much and you’re left with a headache.
Savvy says; There’s a little book called the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Please consult it before you decide to post and post gibberish.
Yes Savvy I have the Catechism I am not preaching theology here these are comments about the modern world & current affairs. You are a woman right? leave the preaching to the men.Christ picked all men disciples. If you do not like my posts don’t respond?
John,
Christ picked male priests alone. Ministers do not have to be male in the church, only priests do. I am assuming you are a Catholic who knows the difference between the two.
Yes, V2 has been hijacked, but the council itself was not Liberal. What needs to be done is to get the Liberals to show us where the documents teach what they claim they teach, because V2 was a pastoral council that did not teach new doctrine. Mel’s church is Sedevancatist, whether or not he subscribes to it is a different story, since nobody really knows what his actual beliefs are. So, the jury is out on this one.
As for political/cultural changes. There are have many Catholics who have participated in liberation theology and other communist adventures. Look at Hugo Chavez.
There is no proof there ever was a rabbi named Jesus who died for you. All Christians are fools.
Malachai,
Check out the atheist schism over at Spiked. The old atheists ranting against the new ones.

John,
“Christ picked male priests alone.”
Then, according to the bible, he confided with MM and appeared to her first after his resurection. His male preists wouldn’t believe in his resurection.
Fer cryin’ out loud!!! Does every subject on MC’s blog have to end up in an argument about religion?
Moe, I couldn’t agree more. Every time there is a discussion about Muslims in the west and the impact they will have on our society; the same posters hijck the thread. I’m beginning to think this is done purposely.
Yes there was a second shooter on the grassy knoll in Dallas on that fateful day in November……and my point is…..who cares.
P.S. Everyone knows that Catholics are just holy than thou Protestants.
Steve,
Jesus appeared to MM, but did not appoint her to be a priest. Priesthood is not just leadership. The priesthood was established to minister the sacraments. Anybody can preach. Most Protestants do not have sacraments so they don’t need a priesthood. The sacraments are not based on rights, they have a different context. I will tell you more if you want to know, but then again this thread is being hijacked by religion as people here state.
Steve says;“Christ picked male priests alone.”Then, according to the bible, he confided with MM and appeared to her first after his resurection. His male preists wouldn’t believe in his resurrection.
The first Christian was the Blessed Virgin Mary, she was picked before all the disciples combined. She has been given complete authority by God to pick her priests. However she did not preach. She encouraged the rest of the disciples.Yes you are correct Steve that the original apostles were afraid at first but then the Holy Spirit came upon in the upper room & they started speaking boldly & were not afraid of the Jews.Just like Mel Gibson not afraid of the Jews.Mel knew when he was to create The Passion movie it would offend them & it did.It exposed the pharisees.
Savvy says:As for political/cultural changes. There are have many Catholics who have participated in liberation theology and other communist adventures. Look at Hugo Chavez.
Yes you are correct there. However Vatican II was hijacked by the Freemasons.I know you do not believe in that however it’s becoming quite clear now.Hugo Chavez gives a great example where like atheists today want to discredit the Roman Catholic Church with it’s humanism & liberation theology. What I mean by that is God’s miracles. For example scientists/atheists today want to ignore the miracle of the Red Sea.They say now the winds were blowing in the right direction to separate the sea, that’s horsecrap,God did perform this miracle. Similar to today’s humanistic ideals about social justice without Christ there is no TRUE justice because man has it’s limitations. For example; Christ performed the miracle of feeding 5000 people with a loaf of bread & some fish.Today’s humanism will say wasn’t Christ “nice” that he fed 5000 people? No the moral of the story is that Christ was able to perform this miracle showing people he was the Son of God & was divine! They refer to the miracle however they leave Christ out of the mix? similar to every Christmas in December the atheists celebrate Christmas & it’s traditions? however again leave Christ out of the mix? bizarre? my point any social justice Chavez should include a God! Christ! to lead to TRUE justice.Ask Israel now? that’s why there is no peace. No Christ no peace. The leaders OBAMA whoever are limited to what they can do.
@John. It’s obvious you think there was a guy named jesus who performed miracles. Parting the red sea(moses),walking on water, reviving lazarus, water to wine, bread and fish for the masses, etc. Codswollop!! These stories are for the purpose of metaphor. That you believe this crap was real is wild. Even priests will tell you that it is all metaphor. Unless you are 7 years old. In which case I apologize. And ,yes johnny, there is a satan clause. And a toooot fairy. And the movie “ten commandments” is a documentary.
Al,
Everything is not metaphor, but everything is also not literal. it’s about right application.
John,
Have you been reading Robert Sungenis by any chance? Here’s a good article refuting him.
http://www.israelcatholic.com/content/view/123/94/lang,en/
@ John
Maybe those aetheists celebrating on Christmas are simply celebrating the winter solstice, of course maybe you are too. Or would that be the Jewish festival of lights, or the Mithratic sun god’s feast, or even possibly the Saturnalia feast of Saturn? Oh well what’s in a date anyway.
Steve,
Maybe you are just celebrating Diffused Daylight, when we celebrate Christ’s Mass. This might help.
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/10402a.htm
Steve a reform Christian? someone who wants to take away the JOY of Christmas from all the little ones. You remind me of King Herod who wanted to kill every first born male on Christmas Eve? my point do you celebrate Christmas? many Christian sects out there are bogus be on your guard.
Religion is such fun. I’m always amazed by it and its most ardent supporters. I find it fascinating the elaborate “truths”, doctrines, and “histories” created around the world’s various religions. It is equally fascinating how each of these religions believe themselves to be on the only true path to redemption, righteousness, and a blissful hereafter. I apologize to you all when I poke fun at your religion, I really shouldn’t, but sometimes I just can’t help myself. You see, I am a nothing. I have no opinion because I admit no knowledge of an all powerful god, at least none that I can form an educated opinion based upon. Maybe I was born missing some fundamental sense, having only hearing, seeing, smell, taste, and touch, to connect my brain to the apparently real world around me. To date none of these senses have allowed me to experience a god, so I for one must humbly admit my ignorance.
I suspect I am about to be told about faith.
Steve,
You need to read Aquinas on natural reason.
Steve,
If sensory experiences are how you connect to the world around you. You should attend a Catholic Mass, we worship we all the five senses.
Steve,
One day in the not too distant future you or a loved one will be facing daeth – believe me you will find God then.
Steve; To date none of these senses have allowed me to experience a G;od, so I for one must humbly admit my ignorance.
I suspect I am about to be told about faith.
Steve, I think if you are serious about experiencing God; Google any Roman Catholic Saint & they will share with you how they learned about God including how your soul goes through a state of dryness or darkness. At this point God will show you your defects & sin.Yes we are all sinners. However this is what we call the light;God will then shine his grace(holiness) so that you have the ability to change your heart. Many saints have said the more you chase him the more you catch him.How do you catch God? by prayers? however they must be proper prayers. Not can I win the lottery this weekend? however without receiving the eucharist you are lost & will definitely not have enough strength to follow through.Protestants I assume you are one? have great intentions however as I have learned when they convert to Catholicism they will realize that is where Christ has been all along in the eucharist & he has never left us.This is why Christ said “I am with you always!”
Hey John. Let’s get this straight. Steve says he has used all his senses and can’t find god. Are you saying not to use senses and you will find god? Why would a god give you senses and then have you shun them for the sake of immortality, redemption and a boring sunday? Why would you need to be senseless to find the great maker? Why should you have to rely on the senses of some delusional catholic saint? That does not make sense. This whole religion thing is not worth two red cents.
AL your senses will deceive you.For example in today’s world we have a love for food & drink this is shown through many orgy cooking shows.Christian theology is all about self control. If you eat too much you get fat & if you drink too much you get drunk.Again if you do not have control over your sense of taste you will be quite obese.By control of your senses you can experience God. Matter of fact there is great joy in this obedience. If you let your senses go sort of speak your God is your belly.Whatever you desire you want.In other words no self control. What is amazing with Christians is that I can honestly say that God does have a huge impact on my soul because I let him control my senses. Incredible peace that the world cannot give.
