There were a million people at my house today for a BBQ and a party. Honestly, a million people. I know this because lots of clever journalists repeated the figure in newspapers and on television programmes. Okay, there were 25 people. But it would be deeply Corenophobic to dispute my claims, even though my house could never contain a million people; but then Yonge Street would have to be full – five people deep – from Lake Ontario to Barrie for there to be a million people present, virtually doubling the population of downtown Toronto. So, two absurd statements.
By the way, all this nonsense about Mayor Rob Ford’s absence from the parade being so controversial is incredibly funny. I’ve yet to meet any real people who care very much at all, and those who do are in favour of his decision. It’s strange how so many in media today view geopolitics through a rainbow prism. Believe me, Ford is as popular – and his openly homosexual candidate as unpopular – as the day of the election.
One more thing. A woman police sergeant who worked the parade for three years told me that the number of sexual assault charges was incredibly high, perhaps higher than at any other time in the year, during the Gay Pride weekend. I asked her if she would go public, but she laughed and said she liked her job.
Yes, I had to laugh. I read the banner across the bottom of the TV screen on the news. “One million people attend Gay Pride Parade”.
It was specific, not refering to the whole week of events but to the parade itself.
Makes you wonder what else you should question from the “news”.
Toronto’s population is 2.5m. One million = 40% gay. Sounds about right.
Michael, you should explain the numbers for Pride to Alex Mihailovich of Sun News because he said “a million people show up to watch the parade year after year”? (June 28th – Rob Ford No Pride)
…and again under the Sun News Pride July 4th video description line “The Toronto Pride Parade draws an estimated 1 million people”. Not to mention the video reports the parade brings in over $100 million…
What gives? Has Sun News buckled on Pride.
The Liberal Media lie about the attendance numbers after each parade, for some reason they need to inflate the numbers to validate what I’m not sure.
It gets better. Saw the report on CTV, reporter states there are 2 million people in attendance!! Do I hear 3 million anyone? So bizarre this need to inflate the numbers.
I guess most of those people walked, drove, cycled, or carried each other in large wicker baskets to the festival sites because we didn’t have them on the TTC.
When the Pope visited I can assure you the numbers cited were correct because the impact to TTC service was monumental. The pilgrims were everywhere at all times, on buses and subways all over the city. In fact their good cheer and joy contributed to my decision to join the RCC
The numbers given by the media are just part of the endless pandering to the homosexuals. Their presence is like a pestilence on the land, and my prayer is that God removes it soon.
More evidence of the Big Lie is that 50% of Toronto’s population is foreign born. Of those, the Oriental Asians, the East Indian Asians, the Southern Europeans, the Eastern Europeans, the Africans and the Moslems are overwhelmingly opposed to homosexuality. So the idea that one million plus people show for Pride when half the city’s population (and probably 30% or so of the entire GTA) are opposed to it is a pretty high statistical hurdle to jump for getting out a crowd that (alleged) size.
BTW, a Star columnist (or reporter?) also repeated the 10% lie in a column (or report?) just last week criticizing Mayor Ford.
For some it sounds better if Rob Ford missed an event with 1 million people than if he missed an event with only 200,000 in attendance.
They run this same lie every single year, and no one but Coren ever questions it.
Kudos to our new mayor for standing up to the duplicitous Pride committee, and to the bullying media as well (I’m looking at you, Toronto Star). The next step will hopefully be cutting off Pride’s funding, as they once again defied City Hall’s orders and allowed Anti-semites to march in their midst.
1.5 mill at the parade eh. I guess thats why us fellows out west refer to it as “Good Ole Toronto… where women are women & half the men are too”.
I’m not particularly saddened that our disingenuous bigot of a mayor couldn’t bring himself to march in Pride. I just wish he’d be a little more honest. Yeah, I don’t know who y’all are kidding with these red herrings of inflated crowd statistics, and cottage weekends and Anti-Semitism. You just hate homosexuality. Own your bigotry, folks. Own it.
Yawn, we’re all bigots, yawn.
I bet in LHZ’s world it’s perfectly fine to bash Christians. That kind of bigotry is different. Because we should all tolerate everyone except the intolerant. It’s all perfectly logical, to a leftist hack.
But just so I understand. Rob Ford is a disingenuous bigot because it’s not enough for him to stand aside and live and let live (the celebrations still happened, if I’m not mistaken). But, since he didn’t trumpet the greatness of gay love by being there he’s just like all those democrats that hated blacks in the 50′s & 60′s (maybe worse?)
Also, I’m not sure what’s disingenuous? Has someone come forward to spike his claim that it’s a family tradition to attend this cottage on Canada Day weekend? If so, I haven’t heard it.
You know what I wish LZH. I wish that disingenuous gay activists would just enjoy the parade. Instead of pretending that not having a mayor that they loathe marching with them is the most offensive affront to their love and dignity since Adam met Steve. Really, folks, you telling me that you couldn’t fully enjoy your gayidity because Mayor Ford wasn’t there to pander to you???
I tend to agree with M.C. He probably should have done something to appease the whiners, but what would be enough? He’s a disingenuous bigot after all, so I assume nothing. That’s probably what he thought too.
… hate homosexuality?
… more like a distaste for the promiscuous homosexuality being flaunted last weekend.
I have actually been to Oktoberfest in Munich on the opening weekend when it is claimed that a million extra folks are present. Whether this is true or not is not important. An indication of how many folks flood into this city is seen in the subway schedule being thrown out completely, the escalators in the downtown station set to ‘up’ to handle the crush of humanity. Are any of these conditions present in toronto? Having seen the footage of Pride and comparing it to being present at Oktoberfest, there is no comparison whatsoever. But the MSM needs to sell the lie in the name of diversity…..
“Corenophobic” LOL, you’re killing me. (Stop the genocide!)
I counted about six million at the East York Canada Day parade on July 1 2010, One of the most remarkable sights of that parade was Mayoral Candidate Rob Ford glad handing with the crowd. I suppose he went up to the family cottage after the festivities.
Funny how the people who preach that “the government has no place in the bedrooms of the nation” are the very same individuals who demand that a government official (Ford) attend this queer function, go figure. Imagine a person who chooses to be with his own family for a long weekend rather than witness a topless George Smitherman sporting a thong and a squirt gun; how bigoted of him. Kudos to Rob Ford for choosing quality family time over frat time. Get a life people. Just because you don’t personally attend the Santa Claus parade doesn’t mean you hate Christmas.
IMAGINE…..No Liberals.
Hey, now the TTC must explain how in just 6-8 hours they can move roughly 1’500’000 fares and have TTC vehicles in the Prarade….and yet they whine that they need more money and newer Vehicles after years of underfunding that made the workplace dangerous for Operators and Derivers.
It can’t be both ways, if they move all those people in about 7 hours, how the hell can Giambrone cry to the Public
that the TTC can’t handle the normal weekly traffic.
If it makes so much money and has so many tourists , then move it to the CNE Grounds as a Adult Venue with a Paid-Addmission system. Have all the booze and nudity you want, Barbara Hall and David Miller can get theirown Float as heroes and go naked too as no Kids will be allowed.
This stops the overt Child-abuse the PRIDE-COPS will not prevent , not would Miller force Blair to enforce the Laws that protect children from Quasi-Pedophilia displays.
BTW
With all those Diesel Vehicles and cars spewing pollution, why is Al Gore and Suzuki not at the Parade screaming about the Carbon-Footprint and GHG’s that will makes the Oceans rise 30 feet and kill everyone.
Coren….Sooooooo…….who do you consider to be “real people”? Probably only those who agree with your skewed vision of how things ought to be. You are one skewed-up dude! Don’t like faggots much myself, but I dislike moral conservatives even more.
Yawn!
1) Wikipedia says there are 36,000 hotel rooms in Toronto.
2) The 45th annual CHIN picnic was held July 1-3 and Rob Ford didn’t attend that either! Man, those Italians haven’t stopped wailing about him not being there since . . . since . . . oh, never mind.
The Sun media chain of newspapers are generally very supportive of homosexual parades.
I was looking a Sun report on the numbers of the parade, they state hundreds of thousands.
http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Microgalleries/2011/07/03/18369286.html
At this other link, they say it is an estimated 1 million. http://en.video.canoe.tv/video/news/canada/1896809958/sun-news-pride/1037406099001/page/4
I don’t trust Sun, nor do I trust any media newspaper and/or television news media.
Ron Corbett of the Sun expressed his dismay that Rob Ford wouldn’t attend the parade or the flag ceremony.
Why do we consider Gay’s more as different race, such as caucasion, black etc., rather than just a human characteristic, such as shy, aggresive, loud, etc? The former have defined physical characteristics and different cultural backgounds, yet you can’t say gay’s fall into this catagory. a certain sexual preference isn’t actually a culture.
I could say anytime that I hate polite people, or I hate arrogent people, but It would be innapropriate to say that I hate gay people (I don’t).
Just asking.
Did you see the crowd shot for game 7 of the Stanley Cup in Vancouver, where people were crammed together in the city square? That was 100,000 people. Are we to believe that 10 times as many were at the gay pride parade? Have you ever been to Rogers Centre when it’s packed (across 5 levels of stands)? That’s 50,000 people. Were there 20 times as many at gay pride? Yonge St. from Bloor to Gerard cannot possibly accomodate anywhere close to a million people. If there were a million people there, they’d be piled on top of each other and stretch as high as the CIBC tower.
I’ll make a pact with the Gay Right’s activists, I stay out of your bedroom if you stop dragging what happens in your bedroom into the public square and until that happens I’ll be honest about how the public nudity repulses me.
I can loan you my glass Sir, you’ll see in triple thus you can see what the leftwing media sees when they report their lies.
Only a million at your BBQ? Thats nothing. There were over 250 million at my son’s Christening. I always knew the boy was special!
Good to see that the US wil catch up to canadas standard on human rights with ssm. Ontario should stop funding the catholic school system. Why is my money supporting these people? It is good to see corapi is not sexually dysfunctional.
It really is sad that the only thing Toronto can offer is a Homosexual Parade. No wonder the rest of Canada laughs at the city.
Rob Ford was elected mayor of Toronto and as such knew one of his responsibilities would be to appear at Pride. If you can’t be a leader for all your constiuents, then don’t run in the first place.
If he didn’t want to have anything to do with the parade, fine. Neither would I. The hedonism on display is not something this city should have “pride” in. But there were other decent events, for families, that he could have attended.
Ford’s gutless disappearance, which many here mistake for moral courage, was nothing more than selfish grandstanding.
I ask you, if George Smitheran was mayor and the Pope came to town, how would you react if he snubbed the Pontiff because of the Church’s view on homosexuality?
Ford failed this test of leadership. Period.
