Leftist Syndrome

- July 23rd, 2011

Tragic irony. The teenagers at the socialist youth camp on the Norwegian island who were victims of terror had just demanded that Israel remove the separation fence – the wall – that has saved any number of innocent, Jewish children from Islamic terror gangs. They also condemned Israel for, well, pretty much everything, and showed no empathy at all for Jewish suffering, and the experience of living with terrorism for more than sixty years. So sad, but so typical.

And I quote: “…in the next few days, as various people try to hijack the Norway story, and use it for their own agendas.”

  2. sue breeze says:

Your tainted view of the situation in Palestine and Israel is nothing short of delusional. You use this tragic event in Norway to support Israel! Israel and its crimes of apartheid, crimes against humanity, crimes of genocide, crimes of piracy, illegal occupation, land theft, brutal colonization! That is what it means Mr. Coren to support Zionist Israel. The young people affected were people of peace and justice and that is why they were asking for Israel to end its apartheid policy. Your insensitivity is surpassed only by your Zionist zeal. Keep on writing Mr. Coren, your interpretation of events reveals your Zionist tainted world view and significantly reduces your credibility.

    PEACE

  3. Love is all you need says:

Mr. Coren you are a cold, cold hearted man.

How can Sun media permit such hate to be distributed on its website, newspapers and television?

If they had any credibility at all these and any similar comments would be deleted.

  4. Kerry says:

Coren – here’s the heading for your next post: Hate Monger Syndrome. You can talk about yourself.

Try explaining this reactionary piece of sh!te to the parents of those children that you so callously blame for their own death. They were murdered by two sick ultra rights – small thinking and violent people who are inspired and propelled by anger and hatred emanating from “adults” like you.

This is a new low; and hopefully, it won’t be picked up internationally, as an example of Canadian journalism and thinking. Personally, I believe you should be fired; you don’t deserve access to the public, producing such hate filled rants.

  5. Kyle Harrietha says:

    Mr. Coren

How you find irony in the cold blooded murder of over 80 kids by a domestic terrorist based on their assumed political views is frankly beyond me.

And your implication that those political views somehow mean those kids massacred only yesterday had it coming is a disgrace.

    Sincerely,
    Kyle Harrietha

  6. Jake says:

You Sue Breeze, are a left-wing lunatic. You belong in the loonie bin with the likes of Judy Rebick

  7. mommadona says:

Wow ~ projection, much? “The Other”, eh? You sound like a Murdoch Pimp ~ oh…wait….. Disgusting #WhiteMaleFail drivel.

  8. Mike B says:

I just have one word for your views – Sick! Nice attempt to conflate a serious tragedy with your own political agenda. You should be very ashamed!

  9. Mike says:

A lack of empathy you say? Jesus Christ look in the mirror you monstrous caricature of a human being.

  10. Bill says:

    Goes round comes round dude.

  11. Knut says:

It’s cool that a dude who agrees with politically motivated violence against children can get published by a major newspaper. “They disagreed with me about Israel, ergo, their deaths are not sad,” is the logic of a sociopath.

  12. Dick Richards says:

You really are a cold-hearted bastard Michael

  13. sue breeze says:

Jake – you are responding like a Ziotroll. The facts stated in my post are facts – supported by numerous international laws and UN Resolutions. Instead of personal attacks you might try reasoned argument, but, I forget you do not know how to do that.

    PEACE

  14. sue breeze says:

and Jake – you make comments like that without using your real name – another Ziotroll trait. You do not have the courage of your convictions, shame on you.

    PEACE

  15. Hank Reardon says:

As cold as this may sound, nothing Coren writes about in this comment is untrue. And at the end, he DOES say it was sad.

I don’t see the issue. All terrorism is bad. Lobbing 10,000 rockets into Israel monthly is just as evil as what this murderer did in Oslo.

  16. Justin says:

    No irony.
    Just tragedy.
Tragedy compounded by the polemics of people like M Coren who would try to bring an unrelated issue to make a so-called point.
If the suspect had been a Muslim, does anyone doubt that M Coren would have highlighted that? In fact, it appears that the suspect is a Christian fundamentalist, so what is M Coren’s reaction? To blame the victims.
Pathetic – and I mean pathetic, not pathos, and tragic.
    No irony.
    Just tragic

  17. Justin says:

M Coren even finds a way of justifying Israeli oppression and apartheid as a result of this terrible crime. It’s heartening to see that the comments to his opinion piece show that people understand how twisted M Coren’s polemics are.

  18. Matthew says:

You are a piece of shit.

  19. elisabeth says:

As a fellow christian I’m going to pray to our shared God for bad things to befall you, Micheal Coren. How’s that for irony?

  20. Ace says:

I love you, Michael, for being honest and blunt, for telling the truth, and of course for your support of Israel! I don’t understand, however, why there are so many left-wing liberal morons on your blog, whose lives are so empty that they sit all day in front of their monitors waiting for you to post something so that they can leave their stupid comments on.

  21. michael.coren says:

Thanks Ace. I know, I know. But we have to let the sewers breathe a little. Actually, many of these comments are from the same people, and almost all of them come from people who have read the same, leftist, pro-Islamist blog. They represent a tiny group, but show to the vast majority out there how ugly and stupid they are. Fear not, we are winning. Have a great weekend.

  22. Daran says:

That is irony indeed. Most of the left are so bitter and hateful that i doubt they will recognize the similarity.

  23. Sassy says:

    Sue Breeze!

Ladies and gentlemen, Sue is one of the Jew hating mental defectives who was on board the Sea Hitler.

Excellent work on that Greek vacay, Sue!

  24. Sabha Marie says:

I wonder Mr Coren if you also find any irony or indeed tragedy in the fact that the sadistic Oslo murderer Breivik was an anti Islam Zionist supremacist who warned of what would happen to people who didn’t support Israel’s criminal actions? Will he live to tell of any Mossad involvement in this heinous of crimes? Given how the IDF have treated the Palestinian civilians for 6 decades would come as no surprise.

  25. michael.coren says:

Just came home. Did some checking. The 34 “likes” are all from unique e-mails, as are the positive comments. The 17 or 18 nasty ones all come from the four same places, but under different names. The other 20 that were simply too full of bad language and death threats to post, all – and I mean all – come from those four e-mail bases too. How very odd.

  26. Mal says:

As Christopher Taylor at “Word Around the Net”, who has posted a link to this BTW, wonders:
“The recent Norwegian slaughter is a terrible, evil tragedy and the person or persons responsible deserve death for their monstrous act.”
    ….and then adds,
“Not to sound like I’m defending this nut, but I do wonder how many other indiginous Europeans are going to snap as they get squeezed out of their homelands?”
While I agree that the evil murdering bastard must be reckoned with, it’s a valid question, I think.
It’s another interesting thing that all the foam and bile directed at you are from so few sources, Michael. It couldn’t be that they’re “organized”, could it?

  27. Harry Abrams says:

What’s the matter with you people? Mr. Coren’s comment was that it was a TRAGIC COINCIDENCE. He didn’t project anything on anybody one way or the other.

However Sadly, the same country that gave the world the Nobel Prizes and the great peace effort of the Oslo Accords has also become a toilet of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish activism sentiment plus other massive and violent problems .

    See:

    http://www.aftenposten.no/english/local/article190268.ece

Mass murder doesn’tt generally just happen in a vacuum. This was some kind of deranged but reactionary act.

  28. Greg in Toronto says:

When I first read this, my initial reaction was to say how shocked I was at your comments. But I can’t help but acknowledge how correct you are, and how bold your blog post really is in pointing out something that more people need to consider. In a little over a paragraph Mr. Coren you changed my mind entirely. Thank you.

  29. rebecca says:

I find it hilarious how the left seems to be keeping up to their regular trollishness on this thread. As an American commentator says, the truth has no agenda. Pointing out a fact, as Michel Coren has done, that may be offensive to a particular group of people (whiny liberals in this case) isn’t “sick” or “hateful,” but honest. A refreshing quality in media today.

  30. Steve says:

9/11 was a demolition done by Israel
The Holocaust is 100% Communist Jew war propaganda
Remember the USS Liberty Attack by Israel
Remember the King David Hotel Bombing by Jews
Remember the Levon Affair by Israel

    Jewry = Esau/Edom
    Jewry = mongrels
Jewry = physical and mental genetic diseases

  31. sue breeze, you are nothing but a liar. To suggest the Israeli/Palestinian conflict involves genocide is an absolute baldfaced lie. The Palestinian population has been consistently increasing at a rapid rate for decades. Rather than address Coren’s argument you resort to the usual baseless lies. At least, your racist ilk is consistent.

  32. I am assuming that those posting profane, insulting, threatening, and generally trollish responses to Mr. Coren’s remarks have interpreted those remarks as expressing a “blame the victim” thought, i.e., that the young people killed by this lunatic somehow deserved it because of their naive, ignorant position regarding Israeli security measures. I don’t think that is a fair, honest, or accurate reading of Mr. Coren’s words. While the particular irony that he has pointed out is probably not one that would have naturally occurred to my mind in reflection upon this tragedy it is nevertheless an interesting one and worthy of more sober consideration than it has received. Thank you for sharing it with us Mr. Coren.

A note to the Harry Abrams who posted at 5:00 pm on July 23rd. Assuming that you are same Harry Abrams I am thinking of and not the ghost of the art publisher, I actually agree with you for once. That makes me very uncomfortable.

  33. Rick says:

As a side note, Sue Breeze, who is so furious with Coren for supporting Israel, was a Sea Hitler passenger trying to break Israel’s arms embargo against Iran. No wonder she gets so mad when someone criticizes supporters of terrorism. She’s one herself.

  34. Ken says:

Many of the commenters have again proved that reading and comprehension are not part of the leftist/progressive toolkit.

  35. Sean says:

The irony that Michael pointed out is valid and I’m sure he doesn’t take pleasure out of it.

I don’t normally comment about other commentators but I will this time. I had a pre-supposed view of those who would take part in that pro-Palestine boat and with Sue Breeze’s comments, it confirms it. My opinion was that they had an extreme view of Israel and jews and most likely hold a hatred for them. Her first post proves it unequivocally.

  36. Sick. says:

You know, it’s this kind of sick, sick, side-taking, Other Side-hating, victim-shaming mentality that fosters the kind of violence that happened at Utoya. The minute you believe Your Side has a monopoly on empathy and truth is the minute you dehumanize everyone who disagrees with you. The minute you dehumanize another person is the minute you can look straight into their eyes and pull the trigger of a gun aimed at their heart.

Stop it. Stop this partisanship. EVERYONE. I am SO OVER the bipartisan system if this vitriol is the best we can do in terms of “political discourse.” This is pathetic.

  37. keystone says:

All criticism of Israel must be supressed

  38. Harry says:

I really don’t understand the logic behind those that criticize & hate Israel so much. If the US started lobbing hundreds of bombs every day at Canada, wouldn’t we do everything to stop it? My bet is these people would be first in line to demand that we defend our borders and shut the doors on evil Americans. Why the hypocrisy? Any of you Israeli criticizers, I challenge you to tell me otherwise! Israel has a right to defend it’s borders & its citizens.

I didn’t get at all that Coren was saying that he was blaming the victims, or justifying the violence, just that there was irony in it. That Israelis were being condemned by this group for their actions to protect themselves from terrorists, and then this group had terrorism befall them. It is a very sad and tragic irony! My heart goes out to them, and their families, and any that suffer from terrorism. No one deserves it, and its sad that it keeps happening. And it’s also sad the hate that comes out of some of those that are commenting here.

  39. Empathy says:

I agree wholeheartedly with Sick’s comment below:

You know, it’s this kind of sick, sick, side-taking, Other Side-hating, victim-shaming mentality that fosters the kind of violence that happened at Utoya. The minute you believe Your Side has a monopoly on empathy and truth is the minute you dehumanize everyone who disagrees with you.
