I’m Reminded Why I Stopped Posting!

No private debates please. If you want to discuss theological points that have nothing to do with me or this blog, go to a pub or join a discussion group somewhere.  Thanks.

Teachers, leave those words alone.

I adore irony. Just received a long, long, moaning e-mail from a teacher about how hard she works, and how she hates me because I dare to discuss their sick days, etc. Then I realized how she had so much time on her hands to write so much. It’s another holiday for teachers. Silly me.

Russell Brand Total Fraud & Fool

- March 18th, 2012

I grew up quite close to the fraud Brand. Believe me, his accent, his views, his claim to be a football fan, are all part of a carefully contrived persona. Most awful of all, he’s not funny. Here he is being ripped apart by Peter Hitchens, and responding to an intelligent set of criticisms by accusing Hitchens of being personal – he does this by being personal!

Mea Culpa, flight delays, new book, Mark Steyn.

Mea Culpa, mea culpa. I’ve not updated this blog in months, and as I sit hear in Vancouver airport – 10am flight to Toronto cancelled, first seat available at 2pm (why is Air Canada in trouble?) – I thought it a good time to start anew. The first copy of my new book – Heresy: 10 Lies They Spread About Christianity – arrived from McClelland & Stewart on Thursday, and the official publication date is April 24. I’ll be launching it that night with Mark Steyn, when we appear at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre – details and booking at http://steynamite.com/. The book can be pre-ordered now, and will probably be in stores before the end of April; launch dates tend to be, well, a litle fluid. I can`t give too many details about the event with Mark, but believe me it will a lot of fun, extremely controversial, and rather different from the usual type of dry speaking engagement. He`s a remarkable man, and it`s a pleasure to be associated with him.

There are gangs, and then there are gangs.

Read this article, and ask yourself what is meant by an “Asian” gang. Hindu thugs, or louts wearing turbans? I think not. The same media that is so quick to describe people as Christian, even when they are not, is so reluctant to use the word Muslim, even when it so obviously applies. This painful double-standard is also seen when we read of honour killings and terrorism. Oh, the joys of liberalism!
