Ann Coulter on Michael Coren Show

- March 20th, 2010

Ann Coulter comes to Canada on Monday for three speeches in Ontario and Alberta and, predictably, the usual fascists are screaming, shouting and stamping their little feet. What fun. Ann is only giving one television interview while she’s here and that will be on The Michael Coren Show, airing 6.00pm on Tuesday, March 23. This will be the third exclusive I’ve had in six months – the others being Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams and Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard.

Coulter isn’t for everyone but she’s certainly clever, funny, provocative and interesting. Problem is, though, she’s right-wing. You see it’s okay to be controversial and perhaps offensive if you’re a leftist, an atheist, an anti-Zionist or a militant homosexual but not if you’re a Christian and a conservative. It’s hilarious that the same students at the University of Western Ontario in London who two weeks ago organised Israel Apartheid week and made the most outrageous and at times even racist claims about the Jewish state are now calling on Ann Coulter to be banned from speaking because she, “crosses the line and spreads hatred.”

What they mean, of course, is that they disagree with her and – oh yes – she terrifies them. A glamorous, attractive, strong-willed and intelligent women making assorted liberals, feminists and lefty students tremble. How’s that for sexist insecurity? It’s illuminating that when morally conscious people complain about perverse sex and obscene language on television they’re told by the chattering classes to stop trying to impose censorship and to simply change the station; yet when an informed commentator tries to offer her opinion those same chatterers try to silence her.

Ann Coulter speaking in Canada is all about freedom of speech. Whatever your opinion of her views, you’re either a supporter of freedom or someone who wants to control it. Time to decide which side you’re on.

The London Free Press is attacking her in today’s edition. They’ve lined up the usual gang of leftists/NDPers/anti-free speech thugs to trash her.

I look forward to seeing her on your show Michael. She’s a breath of fresh air in this socialist, thought controlled state called Canada.

  2. ian says:

    Well said, Michael.
    She’s clearly a provocateur.
Just not the kind that the left/Alinsky crowd dig…baby!

    Heh.

    Looking forward to the interview.

  3. Reynold says:

Maybe you could ask her about this Canada’s role in the Vietnam war:

    http://www.spike.com/video/ann-coulter-canadian/2663937

Sure, several Canadians went voluntarily, but that’s not the same as the Canadian government sending them, is it?

  4. Reynold says:

Or, you could aske her about her scientific knowledge, since she seems to want know more about evolutionary biology then the actual scientists:

    http://pandasthumb.org/archives/2006/06/anne-coulter-cl-1.html

You should see who helped her with her book in the evolution section.

  5. Reynold needs a hobby…

Anywho, great coup, Michael! The latest in a line of impressive guests who are suspiciously ignored by Canada’s MSM.
I will be watching with interest.

  6. Rich Kneller says:

I and a few friends of mine having been looking forward to this event for several weeks. We are just a group of down-home Canadians who grew up in post-war Canada and appreciated the efforts of our Dads and Grandads to keep our country free from opression.
We will never forget that freedom of speech does not come without a price.
We intend to attempt to pay back, in some small measure, the debt we owe them by attending this event.

  7. Jim says:

She’s really similar to Coren just print some outrageously hateful comments about some group and then laugh at everyone you pissed off like the 9/11 widows that were “marinating” in their grief. C’mon there’s lots of legitimate targets for ridicule besides people that watched their loved ones go off to work and get burned alive or forced to jump out from the 70th floor. Politicians, media whores, say what you want about them but widows?
It would be interesting to hear what she thinks about the unfair attacks on the Catholic Church hierarchy for aiding and abetting child rape.

  8. FASCISTS and LEFTISTS trying to silence Ann Coulter. Figures. That crowd wouldn’t be anything, if they weren’t hypocrites…

We’ll definitely catch your exclusive of her on Tuesday. Great catch!!

  9. heckubiss says:

I am looking forward to watching this interview. I am drawn to watching Ann Coulter only for its entertainment value. Coulter isn’t about issues: she’s white noise, a distraction from meaningful debate. Sadly this seems the direction the media is headed in. Especially in the states. I’ve noticed CNN is trying to be more like FOX news in the past few years. Who knows, maybe the BBC will follow that model eventually. when that happens traditional media is pretty much on its death bed.

Care to back up your claim? All I did was provide extra information about how factually off base that woman is.

How does that count as “trying to silence” her? Maybe you’d care to explain that?

As for Leigh Patrick Sullivan who said:
    “Reynold needs a hobby…”

Well, I don’t post here all that much as compared with some people, but, yeah, I suppose since I’m hanging around here with people like you, that is indicative of a need for a new hobby.

What hobby should I do, start a blog maybe? I’ll wait while you try to catch the irony in that statement.

Maybe you could do some reading on the issues with the links I provided?

  11. Reynold says:

Do I agree with those students? No. What I would do though is, after her speech, ask Coulter some serious questions about her uh, “fact-checking” abilities.

  12. rupert delacroix says:

it`ll be very easy to avoid listening to this self righteous douche bag..
All she ever does is belittle Canadians, apart from trying to stir ratings for his “show” there can be no positive explanation for wanting to interview her.
Let her stay and rant away in the U.S.A. good riddance.

  13. matron says:

I shall be very interested in this interview just to see the special effects. How are Coren and Coulter going to appear at the same time and in the same place when everyone knows that Coulter is,in fact, Coren in drag.

  14. Reynold, Reynold, buddy… it’s NOT just about you.

The F and Ls I was referring to were the London area U crowd~

    Not you.

I know, I know, it’s hard to believe. But, I do see other pagans at work, tearing down the nation we live in, besides you.

  15. Reynold says:

Yeah, but given the way that you tend to rant about “pagans”, “liberals” and that insane rant comparing me to Hitler, I assumed that I was naturally included in that little spiel of yours where you were complaining about the “fascists” trying to deny Coulter her free speech rights.

That’s why I made another post where I outright said that I disagree with those students.

  16. Well, Reynold… then there’s hope for you yet.

  17. C.H. says:

Michael Coren wrote: “A glamorous, attractive, strong-willed and intelligent women making assorted liberals, feminists and lefty students tremble.”

Funny that, she’s almost 50 years old and has never been married and doesn’t have any children. She did date the son of Penthouse founder Bob Guccione for awhile but hasn’t been able to settle down with anyone; I guess it’s hard to settle down when you live in a swanky Manhattan condo, so much to do when you’re an attractive blonde and living in a big city.

Michael, please ask her if she hates herself as much as she hates feminists and liberals, because she certainly lives like one.

“Well, Reynold… then there’s hope for you yet.”

When did I ever give you the impression that I was not for free speech? Contrast with what you once said:

“Damn pagans and their worthless, diseased, amoral, outlook on life. They prattle on as if their outlook as any value.”

  19. Andy says:

The Charter of Rights and Freedoms was not ratified as required by a referendum of Canadian voters. Therefore, like our country, our rights only exist as a tradition.

  20. Ofelia says:

Anne Coulter is a self centered, arrogant, totally unintelligent person who has nothing worth listening to. She thinks of Canadians as worthless human beings who should kiss the ground of the United States. We don’t need anyone up here like her and she makes Americans look bad. Doesn’t the University of Ottawa have better things to do with their time than waste it with her? World renowned, I don’t think so. Intelligent, hardly. She gives women a bad name.

  21. Guest2 says:

let her talk, it’s kinda funny.

  22. Cesare says:

Nothing wrong with her coming to Canada. But i dont see the point of Michael inviting her to his show. It will be like watching two Michaels agree on everything. They are both equally ignorant and close minded. Why does Michael always bring people on who agree with him, who share the same views. i.e global warming. Now im not saying im a supporter of it but why doesnt Michael bring on a scientist who supports it and have a debate. I just find his format lame. Michael you fail once again! Just like your radio show. Zzzz Zzzzzz

  23. Cesare says:

    oh and btw,
Anne Coulter, this is the chick that said:

“Canada is lucky we (America) dont roll over and crush them. Canada is lucky we dont just take their resorces”

Im sure Michael loves her for her views. way to go Michael!

  24. Thomas says:

Coulter is a provocateur(sp?), deliberately because any media attention is good attention– particularly just before release of the next book. She makes an outlandish comment and the leftist media jump all over her focusing media spotlight; Cha-ching! money signs are in her eyes every time with the appreciative smile. She and Christina Hoff Sommers are pigeon-holed as traitors to the sisterhood simple for not lock stepping in synch with the intellect deprived bra burning ‘feminists’.

Oh, and don’t give University of Western Ontario students, teaching staff, administration et al. any measure of credit for intelligence nor moral fibre. After all, they gave Henry “Coat Hanger Hank” Morgentaler a honoury Doctorate of Laws for his decades of thumbing his nose at the laws and legal system.

  25. Dave says:

    Michael,

I will be at Ottawa University to see Ann and Ezra on Tuesday night so I won’t be around at 6:00 to watch your interview on TV. Is there a chance that it will be on your website?

  26. rupert delacroix says:

while annie babe is up here pratteling on about whatever her latest target is most of us will be too busy actually working to listen. What exactly is it that you do Annie babe, I mean , you don`t really work you just talk , and talk , and talk and talk…

  27. Donna O'Connor says:

Congratulations Michael! I am so looking forward to watching your interview with Ann Coulter. She’s a very intelligent and capable lawyer and journalist who gets up the noses of the liberals and feminists who always have a monopoly in the mainstream media. They respond by calling her names and wanting her banned from the country.

She has made remarks about Canada, Italy and Ireland etc. but they’re not malicious. She’s a comedian and we need to lighten up and have a sense of humour like the Italians and Irish who can laugh at themselves and respond with the same!

You have a great show, keep it up Michael

    Donna O’Connor

  28. Dan says:

Wow. Do I sense some hostility here toward Ann Coulter? I hope none of those making such horrible, insensitive remarks would describe themselves as tolerent, inclusive, embrace diversity types as most enlightened leftists do. And for me it’s worth the price of admission just to see the over the top reactions of leftists when people like Ann or MC speak. What are these people so afraid of?

  29. Tom Brodbeck says:

Free speech doesn’t mean you can say anything you want publicly.
There’s something called hate propaganda in Canada and it is illegal.

From the Criminal Code of Canada:

    319. (1) Every one who, by communicating statements in any public place, incites hatred against any identifiable group where such incitement is likely to lead to a breach of the peace is guilty of
    (a) an indictable offence and is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years; or
    (b) an offence punishable on summary conviction.

    Wilful promotion of hatred
    (2) Every one who, by communicating statements, other than in private conversation, wilfully promotes hatred against any identifiable group is guilty of
    (a) an indictable offence and is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years; or
    (b) an offence punishable on summary conviction.

The law clearly shows you can’t just say publicly whatever you want, not in newspapers, in broadcast and yes, not on the Internet, either.

Apparently Ann Coulter and the people organizing her tour don’t understand the law.

  30. Skip says:

“Apparently some people don’t understand the law.” From Brodbeck’s self appointed link.

Gee, Tom, neither apparently do you. If you’re not a prosecutor in real life, I’d advise against playing one on the internet.

After reading the comments, it seems pretty clear that Ann Coulter is the only sane one in the room (host excepted, although he worries me sometimes). Reinforced after watching her on the show.

  31. heckubiss says:

I just finished watching the interview. I learned absolutely nothing. Not that I was expecting an actual debate. oh well..

  32. Dan says:

That’s pretty funny Tom. The idea of this speaking tour is to promote free speech. Most of us in Canada understand there is only free speech for people that agree with secular progressive ideology or are from any number of select preferential declared victims groups. They are of course exempt. I have little doubt you support our kangaroo court system used for targeting enemies of the church of socialism. And of course the next point is what speech from Ann Coulter is hate speech? I went to London last night and didn’t hear anything from Ann that was hateful in any way. There was some nasty comments from the self described beautiful people though. But again. They are exempt.

  33. G. Ferraro says:

I greatly enjoyed my first exposure of Ann Coulter (interview on Mar. 23). I have become a fan and look forward to many more interviews. May she always have the courage to tell it how it is. Truth always bothers those who try to suppress it.

  34. Cashcleaner says:

Are there not any proud Canadians here? Are so many people’s loyalties here to their ideology first and their country second?

I only ask because there has not been a single mention of some of the despicable remarks Coulter has made of our nation and its people. This is the same Ann Coulter who commented that,

“Canada should be grateful that the US “allows” it to exist on the same continent.”

    and,

“..They should be so lucky that we defend their country for them.”

That last statement being ironic given the fact that it was spoken during a time when Canada has committed several thousand troops and equipment to Afghanistan.

Now I don’t know about you guys, but as a person who loves his country enough to wear a uniform in its defence, I take offence to those remarks, and here’s the big thing – SO SHOULD YOU.

  35. Dan says:

So what is incorrect about Ann’s comments about Canada Cashcleaner? In fact if the US were all the things that our media and left wing claim they wouldn’t allow us to exist on this continent. That’s true. And on the point about the US defending us that’s true as well. Canada is not even close to being able to defend itself and does in fact rely on the US and it’s taxpayers to look after us for defense. Our proud Liberals/liberals have seen to that. Yes we’re in Afghanistan and doing well with our handful of soldiers. They should make us all proud. Oh ya, not our left. Because you may not like hearing the truth it doesn’t make it hate speech. Canadians find it acceptable to criticize the US and Britain at will and even our politicians have done plenty of it. When the tables are turned it always looks to me as though Canadians are very comfortable being the critic but not the criticized. Rather insecure don’t you think?

  36. Diane says:

WHAA!!! WHAA!!! WHAA!!! You poor Liberal, secularist left-wing stooges. What a bunch of whining, self-absorbed, insecure complainers. Ann Coulter says terrible things we don’t agree with. She is not poltically correct or even nice!!! What an outrage…..we must ban her because what she says hurts our feelings!! We can have Israel Apartheid week on our campuses, we can have the crucifix submerged in a vase of urine, we can have avowed terrorists spout their hate wherever they see fit, but don’t allow a conservative, attractive woman with opinions speak!!! One thing I have learned about the left-wing is they can dish it out, but sure can’t take it. What a bunch of insecure cowards!!

  37. Laura says:

I loved the show with Ann Coulter.
I applaud Dan and Diane for their comments and would add one thing.

Why are the groups who hate Israel, also the groups who hate strong women? I can understand jealous women but not men who are uncomfortable around strong, independent women.
I would question the women who dislike this lady. They may be being used to futher political correctness instead of “freedom” of speach. If she can be silenced, then so can all of us. Think about it.

  38. Anne says:

Where is Fr. Gabriele Amorth when you need him?

Clearly this entity is not of humane origin.

How can you hold a discussion with a demon??

    Don’t bother.

  39. herb landis says:

I must say that Ms. Coulter does not exactly tickles my fancy even being a conservative myself I worry that her views might seep into society as being alright. I for example do not believe that everyone has to be of the same faith to be good in the Almighties eyes. something Ann seems to like people should respect others rights though not neccesarily backing them 100 percent and I think we should be better than this

  40. tkip says:

Well, I’ve read her being quoted in articles, seen clips of her online and there’s little doubt she loves to provoke others and shamelessly promote herself.

Is it part of an act?

I honestly don’t know but it sells and people love watching this kind of in-your-face personality. Nice doesn’t sell. Causing a stir and driving people’s BP up makes for strong ratings.
