Climate Change Debunked

- February 4th, 2010

Professor Tim Ball is arguably Canada’s leading critic of global warming and climate change theories. As such he’s been abused, threatened, libelled and slandered. Even though he is supremely qualified and experienced to speak on these issues, people with no expertise at all have questioned his background and, of course, his motives. It says a great deal about the desperation of the climate change zealots that they would do this. We had Dr. Ball on The Michael Coren Show on Feb 2 for the full hour.

I saw the show. An excellent expose on the sham called Climate Change. Michael, you are the only one on Canadian television revealing the truth. Unlike the rest of the MSM, you have integrity and a backbone. I hope you replay the episode as often as you can. Everyone should see it !

  2. Dr. Mabuse says:

“Even though he is supremely qualified and experienced to speak on these issues, people with no expertise at all have questioned his background”

Well, if he haven’t published any peer-reviewed papers in any scientific journals for 14 years, one has to wonder what he’s been up to lately.
Who does _reasearch_ for so long without publishing?
Other than jokers from the Discovery Institute like Michael Behe, Jonathan Wells, and William Demski who believe against astounding evidence that the world was intelligently designed…
It boils down to how up-to-date his knowledge of climatology really is.

Dr. Tim Ball, did abandoned his libel suit against University of Lethbridge Professor of Environmental Science Dan Johnson. Now why did he do that, if he actually was in a position to win? Could it be that he was trying to silence his critic by intimidation, but couldn’t deliver?

Desmoblog reports: “In a Statement of Defence filed with the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, the [Calgary] Herald dismissed Ball’s “credibility and credentials as an expert on the issue of global warming,” saying: “The Plantiff (Dr. Ball) is viewed as a paid promoter of the agenda of the oil and gas industry rather than as a practicing scientist.””

  3. Reynold says:

Well, since this site seems to be having some trouble with web links, I’ll just post them without the markers in the front.

Now, to the topic at hand: You say that Tim Ball is “Supremely qualified”?

    scienceblogs.com/deltoid/2006/10/johnsons_statement_of_defence.php

    charlesmontgomery.ca/mrcool.html
(from the Globe and Mail in ’06)
“Few in the audience have any idea that Prof. Ball hasn’t published on climate science in any peer-reviewed scientific journal in more than 14 years. They do not know that he has been paid to speak to federal MPs by a public-relations company that works for energy firms. Nor are they aware that his travel expenses are covered by a group supported by donors from the Alberta oil patch.”

Tim Ball has been “libelled and slandered”? Looks like he’s done some attacking himself:

    scienceblogs.com/deltoid/2007/06/ball_abandons_lawsuit.php

scienceblogs.com/deltoid/2006/06/dear_tim_ball_sue_me.php <– these 2 links have something to do with Ball's credentials.

As for the comments about the rack, and thumbscrews or whatever, Coren…I'd just mention that those were used by your religion for real and not by the climate change "advocates", even figuratively.

  4. Jim says:

Tim Ball seems more persuasive than Monckton though when you google his name there are apparently some connections with the oil industry.

  5. Owen says:

There are three great western religions : Christianity, Judaism and Islam. I think Climate Change aka Global Warming is becoming the 4th.

When the global warming hoax is finally dead and buried, how are all you chicken little alarmists going to raise money?

    LOL

  6. Ryan says:

Really Michael, Tim Ball–a former GEOGRAPHY professor, without a BSc, MSc, or PhD in any field of science–is the best you can do? He hasn’t even been involved with academic community in over 10 years, and has been shilling for the oil companies ever since. This is what passes for “supremely qualified” to talk about climate change in your view? I suppose he is a tad more qualified to speak on this issue than your last climate change skeptic–Thatcher’s bug-eyed henchmen–Lord Monkton. At least Ball doesn’t go around calling those of us concerned with our planet’s future as “Hitler’s Youth”.

I suppose having a real scientist on your show, or talking about real science in your blog, would go against the narrative of both CTS and Sun Media; so I can’t entirely blame you for bowing to the right-wing media pimps that feed you. That is the sad life of a whore I guess.

  7. Cynthia says:

    Dear Mr. Michael Coren;

I realize that global climate change is impacted by many factors, ocean, atmosphere, geosphere, and biosphere. They each interact together to form the global climate. The biosphere includes many organisms on land, water, and air. Humans are a part of the world wide ecosystem and as such are part of the global biosphere. Since the biosphere does have some impact on global climate, Humans unavoidably also have some impact on global climate.

Regardless of whether you believe that “global warming” is a result of human activity, you have to at least admit that humans pollute their environment on a massive scale every day. Would you personally ever want to live in a house next to a coal fired power plant, an oil sands project, a tailing pond, the factory row of any city, the harbour of any large city, a river downstream from a major city.

Why is that all human beings seem to understand that living near any of these things is bad for them?

If we all know that living near pollution sources is bad for us, and we build huge numbers of these pollution sources world wide, is it not possible for us to be the cause of more problems than we are fully aware of.

God and Jesus taught us that Greed is a sin, and yet you as a Christian support those who live only for Greed and worship money not God. Even the Catholic Pope has stated that it is wrong for us to abuse the global environment to the degree that we are. This world is a beautiful gift given to us by our Creator, and yet we abuse it and each other so badly I often ask myself how our Creator can honestly still love us in the face of all the evil we bring upon ourselves. Every day I look out on the miracle of our beautiful world and I see the rot and decay that the human race creates and I truly wonder if God will ever forgive us for destroying something so beautiful that He created for us as a home.

    Owen said:

“When the global warming hoax is finally dead and buried, how are all you chicken little alarmists going to raise money?

    LOL”

Well, we could just do what the tv preachers always do…

Besides…what do us “chicken little alarmists” DO with the money we raise now?

What’s our agenda? What evidence do you have for this agenda?

Why would us “alarmists” want to redistribute money from the very countries that we live in? (this is a common accusation from denialists about those who accept global warming)

Have you not looked at any evidence at all for global warming? Or do you just mindlessly accept yet another conspiracy theory from the right?

  9. Reynold says:

As for the charge of no peer review, I’ll just repost a previous link:

    skepticalscience.com/Peer-reviewed-impacts-of-global-warming.html

  10. C.H. says:

I stopped watching when Dr. Ball called science a religion.

Science is NOT a religion, it takes a very different approach to understanding the world (and its subatomic particles) than religion does. The knowledge that comes from science is based on experiment and observation, whereas the knowledge that comes from religion is usually based on some “sacred” text written by people who thought the world was flat.

The fact that Dr. Bell is able to conflate two diametrically opposed systems of knowledge, only proves to me that his intellect is somewhat lacking.

  14. Dave says:

I was fortunate to have one of Professor Tim Ball
courses at the University of Winnipeg in the early 80s. He was quite easily the most popular prof on staff at the UofW and was sadly missed when he moved out to the West Coast. His lectures still stay with me on climate change and the arrogance of humans who presume that man out weighs Nature’s influence.

  15. Reynold says:

“Outweighs Nature’s influence”? No, that’s not what the actual scientists are saying, it’s that man’s activities are exacerbating what’s happening in Nature.

Don’t know why I’m bothering, though…that last comment left here shows that Coren doesn’t go over these blog posts too much…

  16. Reynold says:

Ok, sweet. That one comment with profanity in it was taken out.

I don’t want Dave to think that I’m now talking about HIS comment!

  17. Trevor says:

It just keeps getting worse, when does a theory fail? When the evidence does?

    Check this out.

    IPCC Recent Failures and Revelations:

    1.African crop yields loss (Wrong)

    2.Dutch Sea Levels info(Wrong)

3.Himalayan Glacier melt as well as size of Glacier (Wrong)

    4. Hurricanes caused by Global warming will increase (Wrong)

    5. Amazon Rain forest depletion due to Climate change (Wrong)

    6. Antarctic Sea melt (Wrong has increased since 2007 by 19%) (This ice is 90% of the worlds ice is in Antarctica as well)

    7. Hockey stick model of Temperature showing an upward extreme change in Temperature only after 1850 (Wrong a Canadian exposed this one Mann and others removed the medieval warm period and little ice age Gore used this in his movie and the IPCC quoted it till after is was dis proven.)

    8. Temperature data at UK MET office (Wrong) 150 scientist calling for redo of all, temperature data and process of raw data.

    9. Polar Bear extinction (Wrong)

    10. The closing of 1000′s of ground temperature stations around the world in colder areas (Embarrassingly Wrong move)

    11. The loss of coast for Bangladesh (Wrong correct info says coast is increasing due to run offs)

    12. The predictions of severe weather and climate catastrophes because of climate change (Wrong IPCC admitted this huge fact after Copenhagen when they where aware of the mistake before the conference)

13.The spread of insect related disease to Northern Hemispheres (Wrong USA, Russia and other northern Countries have all had Malaria epidemics through history DDT wiped most of it out till it was wrongly banned based on no scientific data it has since been reintroduced by the World Health Organization the head scientist on Malaria resigned from IPCC and sued to get his name removed because he claimed they didn’t listen to him and others)

    14. The earth is warming as we pump more Co2 into atmosphere The Theory (Wrong.. Phil Jones CRU Head admitted to the BBC in an interview several weeks ago, there has been no statically significant warming of the globe for the past 15 years, the New York times and others have quoted this as well. So Called deniers where slammed over such remarks now they are true?)

    15. Climate Gate scandal many said it was nothing but private stolen emails (Wrong no evidence of theft at all and now we know that primary climate data was deleted admitted by Phil Jones, head of CRU, in December 2009, its the raw data all climate models are based on, and now no one can check the primary data for mistakes. Freedom of information requests where ignored and violated, the Scientific peer review process was tampered with and influenced.)

    16. An Inconvenient Truth (Wrong a British High Court Judge ruled that the film Contained 9 major errors and these where to be pointed out to children before played the film was played in schools, also the film to be labeled political and propaganda and other material had to be shown to balance and counter the arguments, its now law in UK)

Yet time and time again the IPCC says none of the above changes the the evidence for the Theory and we need to just make some changes to process and procedure and and move on. What? When does a Theory fall apart, how much evidence needs to be eliminated and found to be wrong before a Theory collapses?

The IPCC was found on the above revelations to be quoting unpublished, non peer reviewed material or worse they where quoting papers from environmental advocacy groups like Green Peace and the world Wild life fund. There was of course also the scientist who broke the Himalayan glacier story by admitting they put out the information in the report to get politicians to act..FRAUD.

  18. Soncliene says:

The United States and England meet today for one of the World Cup’s most anticipated match-ups, 60 years in the making.
The Americans are ranked 14th, while England ranks eighth. But the underdogs say they are ready for a victory that is long overdue, says CBS news correspondent Mark Phillips.
Everybody’s optimistic at the beginning of a tournament, especially England fans about to play the U.S. in what the rest of the world calls “football.”
“It’s the round one, not the funny-shaped one” says one enthusiast.
The English team is being sent into battle with encouragement from British troops in Afghanistan.
“Just like you, we have to hit the target under pressure,” said one soldier.
They’re being urged on by prime ministers: “Come on, England!” said David Cameron.
But the U.S. team has presidential approval: “Everybody’s going to be rooting for you,” said Mr. Obama.
And Team USA has something else on its side: History.
