Canada Day. Denial Day. Complacency Day. A day for playing with fireworks while the country burns. Wave the flag. Wave a cloth adorned with a piece of vegetation in the colours of the Liberal Party, one with little tradition and less meaning. No. Many Canadians remember the great emblem that once adorned our dominion, containing the cross, the symbol of ancient and eternal wisdom and truth.
Do what the government tells you, allow your rights to be expunged and smile as the norms that made the country great are parodied while at the same a stew of twisted realities are paraded. No. Many Canadians are tired of the intrusions of the state and the relentless attacks from alleged “alternative” lifestyles.
Protect children but destroy childhood, make a fetish of equality but allow elites to impose their ways and rule our country. Claim to respect diversity but be horribly intolerant of anybody who resists the liberal status quo. No. Many Canadians are tired of the twin monsters of materialism and decadence. They have had enough of public educators telling young people how to live but not how to read and write. Nor will they remain silent when told to do so by the princes of political correctness.
Park in a handicapped parking spot and you’ll be charged and fined. Abort a handicapped baby or kill a terminally ill handicapped person and you’ll receive an Order of Canada and a government grant. No. Many Canadians are waking up to the country’s destruction of entire generations of the unborn and the obsession with euthanasia and the killing of those who are no longer bold and beautiful.
Have perverse sex, take your clothes off in public, swear on television and insult people’s deeply held beliefs, but you don’t dare do it while smoking a cigarette or without wearing a seat belt in the car. No. Many Canadians are repulsed by the hypocrisy. They know there are moral as well as physical ills that plague our country and that it is pointless to save a body if the spirit and soul is destroyed.
Blithely pay $20million a week to the CBC so that ludicrously biased people can tell us about what our own country means. Allow unions there and elsewhere to dictate national policy without any democratic or constitutional right. No. Many Canadians have seen through the façade of double standards in broadcasting as well as the extremism of so many in the labor movement.
Satirize the United States and comfort and define ourselves by what we are not. Hate the best neighbors a nation could have merely because we know they will respond with kindness. No. Many Canadians understand that it is we who are often parochial and they who are prestigious. They know that lack of gratitude is the weapon of the spoilt child.
Pay tax after tax and yet see education and healthcare deteriorate before our very eyes. Never look at the authentic causes of gangs and violence because it may reveal dangerous truths. No. Many Canadians now want to keep their own money and do not trust the government to spend it. Nor do they believe the politicians and their explanations about inner city crime.
Canada Day. Kill God, kill man and kill truth. No. Save the country. Not from others but from itself. It’s up to you, the many Canadians, even if you don’t yet know it.
Cletus,
Sanwin (a name of east-asian origin?) hasn’t heard of a $10.00 Canadian because it might have cost the city welfare $35.00 to $50.00 for his Canadian Citizenship Card. You shouldn’t be that surpised at his spelling and grammatically incorrect sentence I doubt he went to school in Canada.
A very well written commentary on today’s state of affairs. It was so reassuring to read thoughts I’ve frequently experienced, but could not articulate, so well expressed.
Michael, how did we get to this point?
The hypocrisy expressed by liberals these days is so staggering it defies belief. Yet, any questioning of their orthodoxy is immediately met with condemnation (to put it mildly). Our society is unraveling.
I just finished reading a book on the Byzantine Empire. This glittering empire, which shielded Europe during its dark ages, and held off the Muslim hoards for a 1000 years, quickly unraveled during in its last 50 years.
Is that now happening to us?
sounds like you should leave Canada michael all you do is slam everything that goes on here.
Coren, all you do is whine about what you think Canadians are doing wrong. You look at what you know about your little corner of Canada and bitch. GTA is full of people like you. Thinking that because you feel that way then everyone must feel that way too. Sad thing is, you are not even really Canadian. You sure don’t portray the Canadian spirit. Take a hike. A long one.
Hugh,
I must agree with you slightly. He does slam an awful lot about our country but on occasion he says something that I agree with. Unfortunately he, like most immigrants, thinks he has some God given right to attack “the hand that feeds him”.
The hand that feeds MC is on the end of his arm.
Moe,
MC slams Canada on occasion and being an immigrant to this country it is my belief that he has no moral right to do so.
How many years does he have to be a citizen before he can voice an opinion?
Moe,
His citizenship status is not the issue. As a foreign guest of this country he has no business whatsoever “slamming” it. Heck, I’ve heard him mane derogatory comments about Trudeau and Coren wasn,t even in the country at the time.
Please explain how a citizen is a “foreign guest of this country”.
Anyone with half a brain could make derogatory comments about Trudeau, as the absolute worst PM this country’s ever known that just shows MC isn’t brain dead like some 40 year on Liberals.
Steve,
More twisted logic on your behalf? Very good sonny.
Yukon, if I’m a “sonny” then you are a very, very “old fart”. I was there when you’re idol Treadeau called the Canadian voters “gullible” and his own Liberal party a “gutless herd”. It was notable as being one of the few truths he was ever heard to speak. For anyone to actually admit they have stood behind and supported the Liberal party for 40 years lets us all know your lack of intelligence &/or high degree of ignorance. I took note of your dribblings only because I have never met (not that I’ve met you) anyone who actually ever admitted to voting Liberal except by mistake. I’ll give you A for honesty though.
Stevey.
The Liberal Party made Canada what it is today – a great nation. Bear in mind sonny that the Conservatives oposed our flag, our national anthem, medicare, Canada Pension, Expo 67, etc. You name it and they opposed it.
The last real leader we had was Pierre Trudeau and those he called gullible were gullible, and the gutless herd were and are the gutless herd. Truth hurts and Trudeau spoke the truth.
The Conservatives want to re-make our country into a mini-USA – may God help us.
I’m convinced based on your foolish comments that you were around during in the 60′s as anything other than a prepubescant school boy, fighting bad case of acne.
Sorry he said the Liberal party were a “spineless herd” not a gutless one. My mistake.
Yukon, you seem a little preoccupied with age there mate, possibly finding yourself caught between irrelevance and alzhiemers? The proverbial rock and a hard place. Flower power is long dead, put away your beads and give your head a shake, it needs it.
We had a flag, one with a long tradition. Our national anthem predated Treadeau. Medicare means not having a doctor, something we all once did have. Pearson not Treaudea initiated CPP and yes it was the Liberals who happily spent all our contributions over the years leaving a critically underfunded plan, maybe they were in cahoots with the cat food manaufacturers. Expo67 was definitely worth the expenditure, at least all those Francophone contractors who got rich from kick backs think so, oh and those pretty buildings on the island I forgot them.
Now lest you have forgotten lets mention Treaudee’s LIPP grants (I’ll bet your old enough to have gotten more than your share of that scam), his continuous cutting of our defense budgets to the point our armed forces are but a joke, his tax and spend policies which are still in place in Liberal thinking today, his increasing our national debt to what were outrageous levels then but are paltry sums compared to what later Liberals have managed, his killing of the Canadian edition of Time magazine in favor of McCleans coupled with his huge funding increases to the CBC, both faithful Liberal propogandists over the years, his insistence that we have our own constitution which actually reduced our individual rights under the then existing common law system while subsequently increasing the costs and uncertainty in the legal system to astronomical levels, but the contention raised was good for the Liberals to hide the fact that the economy was tanking as the CBC/Star/McCleans triumvirate talked about nothing else for 2 years before these three bastions of Liberal truth couldn’t not notice there was record unemployment and business bankruptcies and as a result Treadeau lost the subsequent election, his insistence that we switch to metric inspite of 75% of our trade with the US who are not metric (and obviously we Canadians were too stupid to learn both systems)though over night the change managed to hide double digit inflation as none of us could relate to prior price of gas or milk anymore (and this change cost our economy mega millions), his ramming of the constitution down Quebec’s throat while playing their beloved son Rene for a fool thus single handedly doing more to promote Quebec separation than any other person or event in the history of Canada, his constant thumbing his nose at the Americans (something Liberals including you still do today in spite of all the substantial benefits Canada has enjoyed as the US’s closest neighbor, for some reason you Liberals believe yourselves superior humans to Americans, what monumental hypocracy) while his wife sang ballads to Castro and he cozied up to Kosygin, his rampant immigration policies which were nothing more than the importing of Liberal votes into Ontario to ensure the continuation of Liberals in power, his teaching of Chretien (his right hand man) to carry on his arrogant, dictatorial, dishonest tax and spend policies.
I could go on and on but if you totally missed it the first time around you’ll never understand it now. Yes he and the Liberal party made Canada what it is today alright, an over taxed, under educated, nanny state with dwindling individual freedoms and rights, and an economy so weak that I dread what Canada’s future will be. As the US economy declines in the face of global competition, poor Canada hasn’t a hope to escape the pain. Yes he set the tone for the Liberal party, a once well respected party, to what it is now a corrupt, self serving, dishonest party totally bankrupt of morals and principles. The only mainstream political party to have actually stolen taxpayer funds to pay for their political campaign. You’ve obviously never gone beyond the pap fed to you by the likes of the CBC, The Star, and McCleans. Canada was once a wonderful place to live full of hope and properity until the Liberal social engineers, with King Trudeau at their head, decided to remake it in their own image. Trudeau likely got the idea in his university days while riding around Montreal on his motorcycle wearing a Nazi helmet and spouting Mao Tse Tung (and no I don’t exagerate this).
I once heard Treadeau and Stanfield (remember him?)in a debate where they were both asked equally difficult questions. Stanfield uhm’d & oh’d for a couple of minutes and finally admitted the question was complicated and couldn’t be answered in the few minutes he had available in the debate. Treadeau on the other hand waxed eloquent for approximately 15 minutes but at the end of his speach I realized he hadn’t really said anything substantial. It was then I realized which one was honest and which one was Liberal.
Like I said too many dead brain cells from the 60′s left you 40 years a Liberal supporter with a total fuddle-duddled mind.
And Yukon, before you tell me that if I don’t like Canada to simply leave. Don’t worry mate I saw the writing on the wall years ago and left. I wasn’t going to stick around to pay for Liberals wasting our tax dollars at levels beyond believe. No they’re your policies, you (and your children and their children)pay for them, not me. I’ve lived, worked in, and visited a lot of different ruled by various regiemes countries and none of them were as oppressive (or expensive) as Canada has become. You can keep your Liberal Canada, it isn’t my Canada anymore.
Unfortunately, Steve, the Tories don’t seem any better at reining in expenses and wasteful expenses. Sigh.
I meant “wasteful spending”. (Wish there was an edit function.)
don’t worry about that Moe. you spelled reining wrong too
You are right at that Moe, being left out in the cold so long they’ve are also forgetting their principles.
Crop said: “don’t worry about that Moe. you spelled reining wrong too”
Think so? You’d better look it up.
Religionistas will never win.
The cross will never again appear on the Canadian flag.
Gay marriage is here to stay, forever.
The lord’s prayer will never again be uttered in a public school.
Blasphemy isn’t and will never again be against the law.
Abortion will continue in its current, completely unregulated, form – forever.
No gods, religion or theology will ever again hold primacy over the secular state.
For people like Coren and his minions, this country will continue to slide into base morality and decadence and, no matter how hard you love jesus, there isn’t a thing you can do to stop it or even slow it down.
