Canada really has become an odd place. A blogger who films anti-Israel demonstrations - where Jews are often called the most obscene names – was assaulted this weekend by a leading member of the Canadian Arab Federation and CUPE. He wasn’t hurt but the attacker pushed him and tried to stop him using his camera. Surely this isn’t legal – at least not in countries where Sharia Law doesn’t apply. The bully then told the police that the awful man with the camera was a racist and the cop told the blogger to “keep things peaceful.” Surely this officer should be reminded of the law and that a man who crosses the road to insult and threaten another person is the one not keeping things peaceful.

The police were only 15 – 20 yards away, a group of them, some had to have witnessed it but they certainly did not encourage me to press charges. Initially the “Supervisor” the cop you see in the video, approached me and stated that Ali had told him I had instigated the matter. I asked if filming a public event from across the road on a public sidewalk was against the law. He said “well they didn’t want any trouble etc” or words to that effect. Later he overheard me talking to another of his officers about the possibility of laying a charge, he became quite rude and said I shouldn’t discuss it with anyone but him. I have not decided what to do yet.
Can we ID the cop from the video? I think we need to ask his superiors why he was rude to you but did not charge or tell off the person who attacked you. His chief, Bill Blair, has recently returned from a Simon Wiesenthal Centre visit to death camps in Poland and I’m sure he’d be interested in such “sensitivity” from one of his officers.
The officer in the video is the Supervisor of the Bicycle Patrol police unit assigned to the demo at the Princes Gates, he could certainly be picked recognized if it was shown to his Commanding officer or whoever was responsible for assignments for the event.

i can smell the diversity from my backyard… all the way in hastings county.

David Menzies on one of your shows this past week pointed out that when the Tamils shutdown a major highway in Toronto, no body was charged and during the gay parade in Toronto there is full frontal nudity, (illegal), sex in public places (illegal) yet no body gets charged.
Now it seems Toronto police have taken it a step further. When an innocent bystander gets assaulted by a thug, the bystander is told not to cause a problem.
What’s their motto “Deeds Speak”?
You really should push to get the supervisor’s name. It is time to stop allowing the police to run cover for these organizations. Best example lately would be Caledonia…
We know the police will not lay charges when demonstrators yell death threats at Jewish children and when a pack of thugs threaten rape and genocide at Palestine House, both times in full view of officers whose presence was meant – amongst other things – to uphold the law. I cannot imagine the end result will be any different this time.
If Bill Blair and the like should happen to read this, they should understand they have just barely got the tiger by the tail. If the authorities will not uphold the law, it will be a matter of make-do as in the days of old.
It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.
I wonder if Andrea Calver was there.
How, is type of thing not documented? Canada is said to be intolerent? But this is not only allowed, but left alone via lack of not being documented?!
Yeah, they don’t want any trouble, blah blah. See, this is the new policing model – identify the most potentially dangerous faction and then lean on the other people to stop making trouble.
Nowadays the concept of law and order is dictated by the biggest mob, which, in effect, directs the police. Who needs to hire duty officers when you can get security for free?
The sad part is that if BCF had pushed back instead of laughing at this idiot, he would have been the one arrested.
Why are we allowing this to happen in our country?
The Jews have been whining about persecution for several thousand years. Look at them wrong and it’s anti-semitic, worse still question the 6 million figure and you are instantly a rabid racist, anti-semite worthy of execution. The Jews are like the boy who cried wolf once too often – very difficult to believe all their complaining.
I just reported the comment by Steve above. It is anti-Semitic and engages in Holocaust denial. It still disturbs me greatly that these people continue to harbour such deep-rooted jatred
Hey Steven – you’re an ignorant tool.
Except I’m not Jewish Steven, you twit.
BCF — you should press charges against that Jew-hating CUPE thug, and you should file a complaint against that useless member of the doughnut patrol!
Steven, give your head a shake!
The video showed a guy crossing the street to get involved in a confrontation and apparent physical assault on a member of the public.
It does not matter who was involved.
As to your other point if not 6 million …..what number works for you?
It’s not Canada that is odd; it’s Toronto that is odd.
Look, it’s like this: the police are unionized. Their union, like every union, is left-wing in its politics. Their union bosses tell the cops what to do and how to think.
Don’t you find it interesting that the troublemakers whom the police refuse to charge (gays, Muslims, Tamils) are also the darlings of the Left? They have little or no interest in protecting the rest of us.
I am glad M.C. has picked this up. He is one of the few voices who calls out every political party for silly games.
I expect MC to be grilling Sid on his next appearance.
BCF,
The act involved this person to check, traffic for his personal safety and than travel over 20 feet before making physical contact.
It appears the police are being deployed at our expense to protect and serve an ideological agenda. Are these special interest groups being sent a bill for the extra security? Five officers a few hours, will the G20 be billed?
BCF should have adopted the European soccer players example and fallen down, drawing the yellow, red card or at least a Tim Horton donut from the ref.
Rick, as a tool is useful, it is an apropriate comment. Or to paraphrase, he is a Useful Idiot.
Good news that so many people are speaking out but the guy who “reported” the comment that he considered to be anti-semitic just doesn’t get it. Look, it’s not that difficult. People have a right to make stupid comments that you consider to be anti-semitic, just as you have a duty to consider them morons and to ignore them. What he said was idiotic but so what? Your intolerance is as annoying as his. Once we try to silence some people we tend to silence all people. I’ve been accused of being anti-semitic, just as Muslims have accused me and many others writing here of being racist. You’re playing into their hands by reacting in this way; actually be reacting at all. They live in basements and adore attention. Don’t give it to them. Grow up. As to “reporting”, I’m not sure to whom – God, Bnai Brith, the CJC, David Suzuki?
Ellie in T.O. I would have to disagree about the police union being left-wing in politics. They are the only union to publically support and have supported conservative candidates in the past. It is the Toronto Police Services Board that is left-wing.
Most police do a good job; however the leadership and supervisors have been appointed and promoted because of the political correctness towards law and order.
Well, here we go again. If Ali’s assault isn’t dealt with by the authorities, it will only embolden left-wing thuggery the next time they take offence at anything, “Are you looking at me? Stop looking at ME!!!”
This time it was their demo and one thought it reasonable to physically altercate with a bystander. What happens when it is a pro-right/Israeli demo? Will the left/Union thuggery/pro-Islamic counter demonstrators feel empowered to assault peaceful demonstrators then? TO cops already have a dhimmi attitude encouraging counter pro-Israeli demonstrators from even brandishing their own signs and flags in the past to stop the crazies from getting violent, ‘cause then, they’d have to do their jobs and protect the innocent.
I hope BCF goes to the police. He has my full support.
Soon the people who think it’s OK to physically assault someone else will use the psychopath defense – “look what you made me do”!
How many times does this sort of thing have to happen before something is finally done? Some things that should be done:
1. Assault charges pressed against Ali Mallah (it’s even on video, for god’s sake!)
2. Disciplinary action against the officer(s) who witnessed the assault, and yet warned the victim to “keep things peaceful”
3. An inquiry into the Toronto Police and their policies regarding the policing public demonstrations and conduct, with recommendations for eliminating this kind of idiocy.
I also hope, Mr. Coren, that this becomes a subject of one of your TV installments. I look forward to watching it.
Michael, I would suggest then that you disable the “Report this comment” . I did not ask that the post be removed, btw, I reported it as anti-Semitic which it is.
I believe in peaceful demonstrations in our democracy. I believe that citizens have the right to be heard. Sometimes it is difficult to be heard in a world where there are multitudinous points of view and organisations who represent them or organisations who oppose them. Majority thinking isn’t necessarily the proper or most enlightened thinking. We are however governed by the majority. In my thinking it is as it is, properly so, to promote peace and maybe good government.
The line is crossed when the demonstrations become violent at the instigation of the antagonists, at least in an open society such as ours. In contrast, in Jamaica the honest people just duck because the violence prone are criminal gangs supported by one political party or another.
If I was a Union member or other potential protestor at the G8/G20 I would disappear for the duration. THEY KNOW that violence is likely by some group if history is a teacher.
If a union member or other declared group protests and there is violence, even if unassociated directly, they should be prosecuted at the fullest extent of the law for promoting violence. They cannot turn a blind eye to the consequences of their obvious subversive collusion. The government is being blamed for the cost of security but the Sid Ryan’s (or whoever)unions perhaps should be charged with a portion of that cost.
No, I suggest you disable your current approach to what offends you. I’m Catholic – every day I see another igorant, abusive attack on the Church. My response is to spread the truth and take these people on, not report them. Look at the comments here – people are working to help on this issue and it’s likely the man who made the assault today will be in for some publicity – including on my TV show. That’s the way to respond to all this, not to join the Islamic radicals, Gay extremists and the like is attempting censorship. It has to be said that it was certain Jewish groups and leaders that opened the door to the sort of pc crap we’re seeing now by their over-reaction to various nuts and Nazis. Now the weapons they created are being turned on them.
Steven lives in a fantasy land. That is what happens to people who’s parents over protect their children. I am willing to bet he had 3 inch bumper pads in his crib, was placed in a soft shelled playpen. Placed in a padded walker, so he never had to crawl, stand or fall down and learn to get back up, his tricycle had training wheels, as did his first two wheeler, he probably always wore a helmut and padding while riding his bike in his driveway (not allowed to leave drive way unsupervised) played in playgrounds built on sand pits that taught him that he will always have a soft landing should he fall (unlikely he was able to climb high enough or swing high enough & given the parental supervision it is doubtful he fell) when in school he was the class tattle tale and bully and lied his way out of everything. Has not experienced any real struggles or pain, so lacks empathy and compassion.
It would be a mistake to ascribe the cringing public safety policies followed by the premier, mayor, and subordinates all the way down to the beat cops involved to anything more than a desire to get through each day with as little hassle as possible, as little extra expense as possible, and as little need to diverge from the “excellent” check marks and narratives on one’s performance reviews as possible.
They also could have been caught flat footed by the spectacle of a public assault being carried out by a “mob of one” which is certainly a rarity for such organizations.
Here is a website that you may want to check on the subject of photographing in public and dealing with the police. It is a US site, and the law quoted is mainly US first ammendment etc. but lots of good info on the subject:
Photography is Not a Crime: http://carlosmiller.com/
BCF: Good work – nail the bas!ard!
Thank you so much for proving my point. Several of you don’t like what I say so Im ‘an anti-semite engaging in holocaust denial’, ‘an ignorant tool’, ‘a twit’, ‘Useful Idiot’, and one person even used her entire post to attack and call names. All this simply because I find what Jews complain about to be highly questionable.
What about the recent slaughter on the high-seas of innocent men and women who were taking supplies to Palistinians…do you condem that atrocity?
Steven: You need to prove categorically that the Jews complain more than anyone else. If you can’t do this, you’re being unfair.
We do know that a large constituency of the Arab / Muslim world complains ceaselessy because some Palestinians moved in 1948. They also cause world-wide mayhem over cartoons. The constituency includes many governments and NGOs and has strong UN representation.
Tamil Tigers have shut down Canadian cities and downed our aircraft over a far away problem. Japanese, Chinese and aboriginals in Canada have all received official apologies over complaints.
Are you saying that Jews did not undergo persecution for 2,000 years and suffer attempted extermination?
Steven:
No, I do not condemn the IDF actions against the Useful Idiot/Islamist flotilla. Far from it. HAMAS has declared war on the State of Israel. As a partial response, IL has blockaded Gaza; that said, note that the IDF permitted the flotilla to offload in Ashdod, with the goods once cleared for transhipment to Gaza. The intermeddlers chose not to do so, but rather precipitated an entirely legal and expected reaction from the IDF.
NB: under international law, the Gazan “government” declaration of war on Israel permits the IDF to treat any persons supplying aid to Gaza as parties aiding the enemy, and subject to at least apprehension and search.
More broadly, Turkey staffing and supplying such flotilla could also be quite justifiably deemed a casus belli. Kemal must be spinning in his grave at what his noble state is degenerating into.
Actually Stephen, I would have preferred it if the Israeli’s had sunk every ship in that flotilla.
I agree with Marty at 9.01: Those are the logical steps to be taken.
On another note, isn’t it ironic that when bloggers like Blazing Cat Fur expose the madness that is inherent in the Hamas supporters, everybody thinks that such bloggers are Jewish with their own “scary” agenda? One does not have to be Jewish to call out the pure unadulterated hate which is blatantly on display, constantly, from the Left and from the palestinians. The loudest voices against the Left and against violence from terrorists and terrorist supporters, come from the non-Jewish amongst us.
MariaS
Steven,
You’re a useful idiot.
They’re not Palestinians, they’re Fakestinians, whose plight was brought about by the neighboring Arab states in 1948 when they were told to flee to facilitate the destruction of the new Jewish state. They gladly tried to get out of the way in a hope that the invading Arabs would slaughter the Jews, even after years of increased wealth, and jobs, their presence brought about after centuries of Turkish Ottoman neglect. What they didn’t count on was the tenacity of the Third Temple’s inheritors; not surprising considering they’d just barely escaped extinction by the Nazis therefore they probably weren’t in the mood for Islam-o-Fascists either.
As for your whining about the “Peace Flotilla” boarding gone awry; consider that they’re not on their way to the West Bank, which is under Fatah/PA rule, but to Hamas ruled Gaza. What useful idiots like you will never temper your cries of inhumanity when it comes to Israeli actions is something called facts: such as the Hamas Charter/Covenant/Principles which state specifically,
“Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.”
“The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Muslim generations until Judgment Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. ”
“There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors.”
“After Palestine, the Zionists aspire to expand from the Nile to the Euphrates. When they will have digested the region they overtook, they will aspire to further expansion, and so on. Their plan is embodied in the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion”, and their present conduct is the best proof of what we are saying.”
With internationally known terrorist Hamas patients running the paradise Gaza Strip Asylum, one of their own creation, one bent on the destruction of Israel based on a literary fabrication (the Protocols) and a literal interpretation of the Quran and Hadiths which say it is OK to kill and/or make submit the Jew (and we Kuffars too), it seems to me the Israelis are not the ones who refuse peace. So until the Hamas lunatics change their ways, Israel is doing no worse to Gaza than what the international community is doing to North Korea. Ergo the trade sanctions and the blockade.
Now enter the Peace Flotilla, who knows full well these facts, bent on creating an international incident to further attention to the self inflicted plight of the gun smuggling Gazans. Those 10 martyrs who attacked boarding Israeli commandos with knives knew full well what cause they were going to paradise for.
After all, you don’t bring a knife to a gun fight, unless you’re a retard; speaking of which, have you looked at the consanguinity levels in Gaza lately…
@Steven….this high seas atrocity was planned by the Turks who
are attempting an Islamist coalition to head & include Iran, Hamas & Hezbollah, against liberal Western forces & Israel.
This flotilla had a choice to unload the aid in Egypt or Israel LEGALLY.OF COURSE THEY CHOSE TO BREAK THE BLOCKADE….thus the violence.
Message to Turkey…apirations of another Ottoman Empire in Middle East will be stopped at Gaza border!
Michael
The Police by law don;t have to interfere until someones hurt.
How many dead women by stalkers reveal that?
Remember Caledonia, the British Police running from Islamists or the Swedish Police the same?
In Calgary 2 years ago the jihads where harassing the Jewish community in Calgary. They did nothing. Indeed at Caledonia the only people arrested where not thugs, but the homeowners. They where fined, beaten with guns pulled. Not so the Natives who appropriated said homes.
Its pretty plain these days the Police have become political pawns if not tax collectors for municipalities.
Mean while the normal Canadian can’t even use bear spray to defend themselves. The crooks are the only ones allowed guns besides government thugs.
This is normal for the 21st century, where responsibility has no place in society. Only mechanisms to spread the blame about.
That way the malefactors can hide.
Multicult & PC is above all , is all & ends all.
JMO
“What about the recent slaughter on the high-seas of innocent men and women who were taking supplies to Palistinians…do you condem that atrocity?”
Oh, you mean these “innocent” people: http://tundratabloid.blogspot.com/2010/05/tundra-tabloids-called-it-right.html
“19 EUROPEAN LEGISLATORS WERE ALONG FOR THE RIDE IN PLANNED TERRORIST ATTACK AGAINST THE ISRAELI NAVY.”
These “peace” activists came armed with knives, bats and metal pipes, in order to ambush the soldiers.
But, of course your kind will simply howl about these poor “peace” activists and how “desperate” the situation is in Gaza: http://mooseandsquirrel.ca/2010/05/26/09:03/gaza-glut/
However, to get back to the topic of this post, which Steven tried to hijack: That CUPE thug had no right to attack the blogger who had every right to be there filming. And the second crime is the politically-correct and incredibly lazy unionized TO cops who side with a fellow union thug committing an assault.
But Steven simply uses the entire assault incident to attack Jews. Pathetic.
“assault victim” is quite the stretch.
The big problem in having the G8/20 meetings in Ontario and Toronto is that Fantino and Blair will hold ositions of authority. Neither has the character required to enforce the law. Our only hope is that enough extra money has been spent onRCMP that they will make the important decisions
BILLY JACK also had to deal with corrupt police. At about the 40 second mark, he sizes up the issue pretty well. And then deals with it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kttCi2jOcOo
Stephen.
When you find yourself in a hole..
its a good idea to stop digging.
Hello Mr. Broken Arrow.
Could you please call Mr. Billy Jack and arrange for a consultation. Then call a mental health professional and arrange another one.
Just injecting a little humour topsy-turvy.
My hat off to Arnie, Blazing Cat Fur, he handled being assaulted really well.
Ali Mallah, the Vice President of the Canadian Arab Federation, comes across the street, to show us the thug that he really is.
Palestine House, or the Canadian Arab Federation, WAS LIKELY PAYING the Toronto Police Service TRIPLE-TIME to “help” with their protest. The individual officers would get $50/h+ and they aren’t going to bite that generous hand that feeds them!
Remember, OFFICER’S DISCRETION!
Like back home, Ali knows the authorities can be bought off in Canada…it’s just different how you do it here. You pay for “protection”, and the police while present, turn a blind eye to lawbreakers…from the paying party.
S***, if only the whole thing hadn’t been caught on camera by Arnie.
If only…then the lies Ali told Pay-Off-a-Toronto-Cop officer, to get him to spring into action for Ali would’ve worked. Damn luck. Cursed cameras.
Now, Toronto’s dumbest officer is going to realize that it was Ali who really broke the law, and he’s just made the whole force look bad. Big Scandalosa.
Ali Mallah needs to be immediately arrested.
Why hasn’t Ali been arrested?
I guess violent union leaders are above the law.
I recently gave a statement for Peel Regional Police when I witnessed a drunk attacking an officer here. The guy was IMMEDIATELY arrested.
Police aren’t confused about the law in Peel.
MC wrote, “It has to be said that it was certain Jewish groups and leaders that opened the door to the sort of pc crap we’re seeing now by their over-reaction to various nuts and Nazis. Now the weapons they created are being turned on them.” That is very true but unfortunately few seem to understand that. I hope we’ll soon reach an age again when people begin to think and understand the consequences of their actions. We as citizens have allowed this and voted for it. Now look at the mess we’re in. I hope your coverage of this will open some more eyes. We must turn this insanity back or our future is very bleak indeed.
Telling BCF to “go to the Police” reminds me of that great line from Fletch when Joe Don Baker comes into the room:
“Oh good; the police.”
