Olek - Crocheted Grapefruit (blurb)

If you’re in New York from June 19 to 21 look out for infamous crochet-hook wielding artist Olek’s clad of performers in the streets reenacting Yoko Ono’s “Instructions” in Grapefruit (1964):

“Painting To Shake Hands
Drill a hole in a canvas and put your
Hand out from behind
Receive your guests in that position.
Shake hands and converse with hands”.

Here’s what I have posted about Olek in the past (video and pictures of her work).

The Park Avenue Armory (one of my favorite exhibition spaces in New York) just opened a large-scale audio/video installation by sound and visual artist, Ryoji Ikeda called “the transfinite”. For the non-geeks out there, the name is inspired by the mathematical concept of transfinite numbers, “which are larger than any finite numbers, yet quantitative and ordered”, dixit the press release (?!). Accompanied by a synchronized musical composition, the two-room installation explores how data defines the digital world we live in. Visitors can take their shoes off and step on a 45-foot-tall and 60-foot-wide screen. If you’re in New York, the installation runs through June 11. It’s a great experience to be part of. The Park Avenue Armory is located at 643 Park Avenue, between 66th and 67th Streets.

I’m going out on a bike ride. (I’d like to put that remark in perspective: it’s as unlikely as my saying “I’m putting on the new Sting LP!”)

Dear Manager: I know you meant well, but this Tom Waits workout video you sent me really sucks.
