Just For Laughs set to kick off

I’m in Montreal, home of the pre-eminent comedy festival in North America, Just For Laughs – a longtime “meet” market for standup comics and the people who put them onscreen.

I’ll be filing on my sitdown with Todd Phillips, director of what is now the highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all time, The Hangover – and the many interruptions on his Blackberry. (He simultaneously talked to me and negotiated, apparently successfully, for a certain HUGE A-list star to co-star with Zach Galifianakis in Phillips’ next comedy Due Date, which starts filming in nine weeks).
