Liberal member – not Rae – weighs run

A former Liberal candidate seems to be ramping up his potential bid for party leadership.

David Bertschi , an Ottawa-based litigation lawyer, has been weighing running and on Tuesday,  he’ll be speaking to the Economic Club of Canada.

In the 2011 general election, he ran against Tory MP Royal Galipeau in the Ottawa-Orleans riding, coming in second, short roughly 4,000 votes.

Bertschi so far has a Facebook page and a couple of ads for the leadership bid already whipped up. And he’s given a couple of media interviews so far.

His spokesman is Brenden Johnston, a one-time Liberal staffer, Young Liberal member and Youth Representative for Ottawa-East at the Canadian Youth Assembly.
