Sun News Network needs your help

- January 29th, 2013

If you find Sun News Network useful and want us treated fairly by regulators, please help us by contacting the CRTC to stand up for us.

Like many of those who work here, and indeed like Pierre Karl Peladeau, CEO of Quebecor Inc. of which we are a subsidiary, I would prefer a free market in television in Canada, with no mandatory carriage or fees set by regulators. But as Peladeau notes, that’s not what we have in Canada now. And until we do, the basic principle of equality before the law surely requires that we be put on a level playing field with our competitors.

If you want to help, if you’re willing to sign a petition or send the CRTC a letter (short and polite, please) you will find our instructions on how to do it here. We really need your help.

keep up the good, work you guys say it the way it is,and are the only network that has any balls to address the first nation issue. One of our MLA Bill bennett said it once, when the first nation start paying taxes then they can vote. here is an email I recieved from a friend from Vancouver BC

    NATIVE HISTORY

    2. The idea that the “natives” were peaceful caretakers of the land or benevolent tenants couldn’t be further from the truth. The various tribes warred on each other constantly. They were violent. Want proof? Ask the Hurons…oh that’s right you can’t. The Iroquois wiped them out. How about slavery that was rife among the first nation tribes until the Europeans came over and freed the slaves and put an end to this “valued cultural tradition”? Is slavery peaceful and humane?

This is exactly what has been happening since the dawn of humanity all around the globe. To say we “stole” their lands is just plain wrong. That is akin to saying the Saxons should return England to the Angles. Or maybe we should launch a campaign to have Roman descendants give Italy back to the Etruscans.

Educate their children to become modern citizens , instead of finding their identity and source of pride in some folks who occupied the land 15000 years ago. Let them stand or fall on their own account. Just like the rest of us have to do!

Specious remarks without context serve no one well.
The Iroquois Confederacy is a process that 100′s of years in practice. A letter from George Washington stating his appreciation to that confederacies constitution as a template for his own is of record.
Gino, what does the phrase ‘Indian War’ suggest to you. History is replete with facts that prove war is no solution by any measure.
A population estimated in the 10′s of millions was reduced to some number above 265,000 once the North American land grab had delivered it’s near final solution. Context without vitriol has merit.
