Short term gain for long term pain?? What happens to Canada’s control over CNOOC/Nexen in the event of a military face-off with China, which, after watching Red Alert/China in Charge, etc. on CNN and SNN these past ten years seems more and more inevitable. Nexen’s holdings in the Oilsands, the Gulf of Mexico, and the North Sea would probably be enough to fuel the Chinese war machine.

I agree that the CNNOCC/Nexen deal will weaken the security for both Canada and USA when China can turn off the oil supply feed to the US should China threaten war with the USA in the future. A high ranking Chinese general has recently threatened to use nukes against the US Navy in the Asia sea. China wants the US out of the Asia Sea area so they can invade Taiwan and have their way with Japan and the other small countries in the South Pacific Seas. Hiltler invaded small countries leading up to the 2nd world war and took them over one by one until the Allies woke up and realized that they were next on Hilter’s list.

It seems that western society is not learning from the past.
