This just in: MSNBC says the Superbowl was the most tweeted sporting event ever, beating Tim Tebow’s 80-yard overtime pass to lift the Broncos over the Steelers back on Jan. 8. Sic transit gloria mundi, one is tempted to say… or tweet. (Is there a hashtag for “Pathetic loser quoting Latin in the 21st century?)
As more and more people use the service it is likely that event after event will be most-tweeted ever… so briefly even Andy Warhol would be appalled.
On the other hand, I suppose we should be grateful to the 12,233 people a second tweeting at the peak of the Superbowl frenzy. I mean, how else would we know who’d won the game? Unless we were watching it instead of our Twitter feed, I mean.
