It’s not news that Saskatchewan’s had major flooding this year, but it was striking flying over it last weekend. I’m used to seeing the green and yellow patchwork of fields, but now it looks like somebody’s taken a paintbrush and some black paint and splattered it all over the view. There’s water everywhere and the ground is so saturated that farmers can’t get equipment into the field without it sinking and getting stuck.
One farmer I spoke to said they will be fine if they get two months of hot weather and lots of sunshine. But that’s a big if.
