Haggling over the price

- October 9th, 2012

While U.S. Congressmen from both parties are warning not to do business with the giant Chinese telecommunications firm Huawei because it is a pawn of the Politburo and a threat to America’s national security, Canadian politicians are in such a hurry to jump in bed with it that the Ontario government is even giving it money. Meanwhile on issues like Nexen, national columnists, prominent business persons and elected officials tell us dealing with China is our ticket to wealth, sneer at people who don’t trust Communism, and say it will all be fine if we just use proper protection.

Though I know what you call a person willing to embrace a creep because they have money, I’m not quite sure what the right term is for a political class willing to do so. But I bet it’s not flattering.
