Meet the Happy Mayor

Mayor Rob Ford

Most of the time when we see him at Toronto City Hall, Mayor Rob Ford doesn’t look very happy.

The photo above is when Ford was scrumming about labour issues. Often in council meetings he’s frowning more than smiling.

But get him out in Scarborough with an over-sized cheque from his Rob Ford Football Foundation and put him on a football field with some high school players, and suddenly, you’ve got a happy mega-city mayor.

Sun photographer Craig Robertson was at Blessed Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School on April 3 for the cheque hand-off. Ford’s football foundation donated $5,000 to the school’s team, the BMT Titans. You may recall donations to Ford’s football foundation got him in trouble with the city’s integrity commissioner and then led to council voting earlier this year to reverse a decision demanding Ford repay some donations to the foundation. That vote, which Ford took part in, is now at the centre of the conflict of interest application trying to oust Ford from office (story here).

But back to the field at Blessed Mother Teresa.

When it came time to get a photo, Ford ran several plays with the students while Robertson snapped away and believe it or not, the mayor looks happy here.

Here’s some of the shots from the day:

Where are those PETA girls? :) Ford appears to be very fit when on the football field! PETA girls might have the difficult time playing the game?

    Go Ford Go!

Ford appears the only Mayor that has the “tax payers” interest before his own. Some call him a “bully” in political circles, but he is the only Mayor I have observed that can really relate to all levels and classes of individuals, and what transfers to the word “bully” in some circles, others can relate
this to leadership and good management. The City of Toronto is not a Social Club, although we have
multiculturism in the City, if one does not run the City like a business then one should call “the City of Toronto” by a different name. And in my view, Mayor Ford is the best to heed “restraint”, and initiate a different curb in directing the City of Toronto’s business with a refreshing outlook and service to the people who work hard for their tax dollars. If only he had a team like this that would
be more adaptable and futuristic thinking on his Council.

Having stated the above comment about futuristic thinking, have the councillor’s ever given any
thought regarding the buildings they work in, have meetings for countless hours at a time……..here’s some food for thought……..
    a.) Petulla Clarks…..I Have The Whole World In My Hands.(Round Bldg…World…Curved Bldgs…Hands)
    b.) Round Bldg…..Space ship…Round Bldgs….???
I’ll leave the rest for your own imagination…..
Some individuals in the architectual field apparently have futuristic thinking all ready…..how about
    City Councillors??

Perhaps Rob Ford will be a happier man as a football coach because he does not seem to be happy at all when he is at City Hall

Why didn’t this bloated, angry screwup of a politican just pop the cheque in the mail instead of turning his donation into a vote-getting photo op. With The Sun trailing along like his pr staff. You guys who are supposed to be professional journalists should find something a little more important to do than carry his jock strap. He’s a bum. Probably the worst mayor ever. He sinks in self pity like a rhino in a swamp on a hot day. Cops at his house all the time. When was the last time a black and white was in YOUR driveway. What a jerk.

Well, I have to laugh when I read comments that indicate that Mayor Ford relates to all levels and classes of Torontonians.

Unles you’re LGBT, a reporter, or a person who actually reads reports produced by knowledgable city staff, engineers and planners.

Just keep shouting “Gravy Train, Subway, Toronto Star Reporter” and we’ll have more sad escapades from our most incompetent mayor in recent times.
