Quote of the Day: Adam Vaughan on Exhibition Place

- May 28th, 2012

Councillor Adam Vaughan

It’s about city building, it is about extending the city down to the water’s edge. It’s not about casinos and Ferris wheels and you know, you feel like you’re living through an episode of The Simpsons half the time. Can we have some real city building here instead of Googling “fun cities” and taking a look at Ferris wheels and silly stuff that sort of makes a headline but doesn’t make a city.

Councillor Adam Vaughan reacting Monday to news the city is looking at revitalizing Exhibition Place and the key to it could be a casino

  1. Mick Smith says:

Will someone please define what’s meant by the term “city building”? It’s a term that’s routinely tossed around by the left, but which doesn’t seem to mean anything concrete.
Does it really mean extending the city down to the water’s edge, as Vaughan says? If so, all I’ve seen built there so far is a growing forest of condo towers – approved by Vaughan and David Miller et al. They block the view of the lake, further clog traffic, and when it comes to enjoying the waterfront, they help only those who are lucky enough to live in them.

You insult citizens living in Etobicoke and you call this city Building? You will never be Mayor of Toronto …NEVER.
