Quote of the Day – Adam Vaughan shouldn’t worry about Rob Ford …

Councillor Adam Vaughan predicted Monday Mayor Rob Ford won’t be re-elected in 2014 (story here).

That led to some interesting reaction from Ford’s executive committee.

Councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong was quick to point out Vaughan couldn’t even get his bullet ban past the executive committee (story here) but he’s passing judgment on the mayor’s odds in the next election.

“I think Councillor Vaughan hates the mayor so much that he’s completely lost his perspective,” Minnan-Wong told the Sun.

Then Minnan-Wong came up with the zinger.

“Adam shouldn’t worry about Rob Ford, he should worry about Olivia Chow,” he said.

Chow – who said last month she doesn’t want to run for mayor – has been touted as a possible dream candidate for Toronto’s political left and one that would knock out any other “progressives” mulling a run like Vaughan.

  1. Tom Hatley says:

I can’t decide what would be worse for Toronto, Adam Vaughn or Olivia Chow. Either one will send the city into a financial tailspin.

  2. William Peters says:

Vaughan needs to worry about himself, he is his own worst enemy. I just can’t see him as a mayor under any circumstances…the thought of Adam the Mayor is sickening.

  3. Mario says:

If only the Vaughan’s at City Council would find the energy to help the Tax payers of Toronto as they do
insulting the Mayor, Toronto would be a much better place.

  4. Wilma de Bruyn says:

Adam Vaughn…….it appears to me this fella by continually criticizing the Mayor and never having
anything constructive to say, appears to me he may have “attention deficit disorder” for a more
clearer definition….he would like the attention.
Too bad, so sad Adam Vaughn your not the Mayor, until then if you would like the position…… run
    for Mayor next election.
As for the opposing newspaper, it appears to have a “dual personality” or a “double edged sword”.
At least there is some form of attempt for constraining the finances on the City level, which one cannot say for the Provincial level….the sad part is no one there is going to Court of Jail for that matter, (eHeath and Ornge scandals.) and that effects every “taxpaying citizen” in the province.

  5. Steve says:

I think Adam Vaughan needs to give his head a shake. His constant hatred for the Mayor is very disgusting and very unprofessional.Vaughan would never get my vote ever.Yes the Mayor has made his mistakes but if willing he will learn from them just like the rest of us do.Instead of Vaughan’s constant crybaby rants of hatred, he should learn as a council member to work with the Mayor. If Vaughan disagrees with the Mayor then there are other ways in dealing with it.This awful attitude and behavior from Councilor Vaughan is a low class act.

  6. ford fan says:

Adam Vaughan, I am a fan of our mayor not so much of you sir. I dont really care if you arent, but he is effective to me because even though you all think him a buffoon, he to me is trustworthy and responsible with my tax dollars and previouse electives have not been. You live in the elitist artichoke heart of Toronto but you fail to see outside the box of the downtown core that so many others live….and work and live hard to keep your self entitled group functioning. I want to keep him…I dont expect perfect..I expect fudiciary honesty and that is Mr. Ford.

  7. Wilma de Bruyn says:

Let me make a “correction” on my comment above, about the “EHealth Scandal” and “Ornge Scandal”, why no one is ending up in “Court” or “Jail” for all the money absonded from the Taxpayer’s
    of Ontario.
In Toronto Sun, front page Thursday, Sept.13,2012, a man defraud’s people out of $lmillion dollars and receives 2,3 years in jail, yet were talking about $730million over five years and counting.
Let’s get to the bottom of the barrel on these two scandal’s as something is definitely smelling rotten
at the head of this fish.

  8. Wilma de Bruyn says:

P.S. And if anyone does not know the meaning of:
ABSCOND, it means:go away suddenly and secretly; go off and hide; the dishonest tell absconded
    with the bank’s money.
